5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy Unless You are Willing to Read Over and Over Again
I NEVER write reviews of anything. This is my first one. However, after reading this book, I thought I had to. This book is great. I have a 6 year old and a 3 year old and they love it! The writing is funny, the pictures are funny, and the little comments that go along with the pictures are hilarious. After getting this book, everytime my children get grumpy, I say...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as other reviews led me to believe
I bought this based on the reviews of how funny & entertaining it was. Sort of a flop at our house. She's 3 1/2 and adores books, but this is a book that is never chosen. The part about a bird on the lip is about the only thing she can relate to. Everything else was just beyond her & she never really got the joke. Wrong side of the bed, toilet seat up, clothes for...

I NEVER write reviews of anything. This is my first one. However, after reading this book, I thought I had to. This book is great. I have a 6 year old and a 3 year old and they love it! The writing is funny, the pictures are funny, and the little comments that go along with the pictures are hilarious. After getting this book, everytime my children get grumpy, I say "What are you so grumpy about" and pretend that my fingers are a bird that lands on their lip (you have to read the book to understand) and it IMMEDIATELY causes them to smile. Now . . . that is money well spent!

5.0 out of 5 stars Who are YOU kidding...?, January 3, 2004
You guys are all nuts! This book is not just for kids! My aunt showed me this book (she had bought it for her grand-nephew) and I couldn't stop laughing! I'm now ordering it for my girlfriend to give her for her 18th birthday! This is a great book for ANY age!
Sure to cure any bout of grumpiness, keep this one in a safe place for those bad days!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book!, April 4, 2003
By A Customer
I ran across this book yesterday at my local bookstore. The story is very light-hearted and aimed at making kids feel "un-grumpy". The illustrations are great - very bold and colorful. I will be buying this soon for my 4 yr. old niece. Highly recommended for any grumpy kid (or adult)!

This is a nice well-written and well-illustrated children's book that ends with a smile and is a delight to read aloud. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible book for my talking about social cues and situations, February 3, 2006
By
This book is great for my son who has a tendancy to take things quite literally and too seriously. In moments of frustration he loses it! He has trouble reading social cues and it's great how this book talks about feelings and situations that we all have. It opens doors to conversations about real situations that irritate him. While he's calm and laughing we can talk about them and he can see the situation and understand his feelings.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book, August 29, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My son absolutely loves this book as does his grandmother (who also happens to give him smothering hugs to the bosom). It's a laugh riot and many of the jokes within have found themselves into our regular family conversations.

Don't let the fuddy duddy's talk you out of this one! It's wonderful.

5.0 out of 5 stars turns grumps into giggles, October 30, 2004
By
This book has a great story about not feeling grumpy about stupid stuff, and laughing at one's troubles. It is a great way of getting a kid to stop moping about, feeling sorry for themself. I would recomend this book as a way of making kids feel good about being happy. And the pictures are a stich!

Tom's style is delightful. I especially loved all the sub-jokes throughout. The style is deceptively simple. Yet there is so much going on, you'll want to reread it and see what you missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars My five year old grandson really identified with this book!, March 15, 2006

Such a well written, beautifully illustrated book. My five year old grandson really identified with the little boy in the book. He too gets grumpy when getting a stuffing hug from his gradma, me! It is quite natural for a five year old boy not to want to be hugged and my grandson was glad to see that the boy in the story felt the same way! I highly recommend this book! I will buy more books by the same author.
