the kinison is deffinately one of the sickest bands out there today. to the guy that said the screams werent passionate enough, must have everything mixed up... the screams are the craziest screams ive ever heard with this type of music...actually this isnt any type of music, this cd and band has one of the most unique sounds ive ever heard, the cd is deffinately worth the price and the beats and music they have are amazing, i think this band would be the next big thing if people knew about them.

I'm impressed with this release from The Kinison.
Overall you have a somewhat 80's inspired, groovy, darn catchy hard rock album. Mind you they do have some intense "hardcore" moments and this compliments the fun, danceable parts of the album. I think it's a good mix --think Refused but with an 80's bubblegum pop aspect. I know, I know ...a description like that would normally turn me off but this is good rock. Despite being "fun" music, the lyrics and song structures show a band that's playing with some obvious influences but all the while trying to push things to be a little different. (The EP is good, has a slightly less "produced" sound and is overall a little harder-edged)

Out of what, in my opinion, is the next "big thing" in the alt-rock music scene, comes The Kinison. First get their EP "Mortgage is Bank" it kills. This CD is amazing. Sort of like At the Drive In with more of an "Indy" vibe. Really, really f-ing good, I just wish I could see them live. Stand out tracks: The Farm & the Girls, Wild and Crazy Kids, American Collectibles, and Oh Boy That Girl Can Move. So when this kind of music becomes the next screamo, just know that the Kinison have been here for a while.

Take some at the drive-in, a tablespoon of ima robot, a dash of les savy fav, and something else that I can't quite put my finger on, but im damn glad its there... and you got The Kinison. Every track on this CD is amazing. Buy it, listen to it really really loud in your car, and don't worry about changing CD's for the next 4 or 5 days. Sorry to sound like a comercial for The Kinison, but its that good.

and i can honestly say ive never seen a preformer antagonize the audience as much as the singer of The Kinison. He was annoying, whined about the audience's reaction, and was giving everyone the finger. I dont think im alone when i say that i truly wanted to punch this kid in the face. What really got me was that amidst this skinny bugg-eyed jerk being *this* close to getting his @ss handed to him by the collective audience, The Kinison WERE ROCKING. I was confused. Livid. I wanted to kill this guy. I liked the music. what was going on? decide for yourself.

Shockingly Awesome,

I was amazed at the raw energy and head bobbin groove of their ep so naturally I was insanely courious to see how their first full length would come off. Less raw and perhaps not as intense as the ep, this one shows off a bit more creativity and and a well balanced musical platter. 3 of the songs have that catchy, "stick in your head all day" appeal and one of them has that "Sit back and soak it in" Not at all dissapointed with their first full length effort. I would encourage everyone to check this one out. It's Shockingly Awesome.

Granted, this album has some good hooks and is pretty upbeat, but how could you give it 5 stars? Whoever this vocalist is should realize that he lacks a quality scream-o voice. The best track here is "You'll never guess who died" because of the catchy guitar riff and good vocals. Everything else just seems... too planned. The screams lack passion, the lyrics are silly, and the attempt to marry pop with hardcore is nauseating. There is no doubt that these guys have talent, but this album (and their hardcore approach altogether) doesn't convey it. Save your 5 star ratings for Led Zeppelin II or Disintegration. Oh, and the reviewer who says this album has groovy 80's inspired hooks is probably on acid.
