A worthwhile purchase!,

I was taking a quick look through Majesty's music selection one day, and I saw this CD. Right on the front it said that it had members from Thousand Foot Krutch and recommended if you like Relient K or MxPx. So I listened for a little and decided to buy the CD. It is amazing! Now, if you're a Thousand Foot Krutch fan, don't expect the music to sound anything alike. TFK is a rapcore sound, FM Static is a pop/punk/rock band. Sounds like MxPx and the Clarks rolled into one band. Now I'm not really sure why I bought it in a Christian bookstore; this band fits right in with the pseudo-Christian bands under the Tooth and Nail label (MxPx, Element 101, Slick Shoes, and the Juliana Theory also fit into this category). The members are Christian, but the lyrics are mainly about girls and love. I have two complaints which puts "What Have You Been Waiting For?" down to four stars: 1) The lyrics are anything but deep, and 2) It's very short. I think two more tracks would've rounded it out nicely. That said, this is still a very worthwhile purchase.

Not so much about the lyrics,

I don't quite get why so many people are bashing this cd. Okay, the lyrics aren't deep. Big deal. This is a summer album. You are supposed to turn it up loud, roll down your windows, and have fun listening to it. It does that extremely well. I've never listened to another cd where the whole album was stuck in my head at the same time. If you want a cd to spend hours pondering the deep meaning of the songs, you definitely won't want to buy this cd. If you want a fun cd that you can't stop listening to, then you absolutely have to buy it.

first off, the person below me needs to understand that they are in NO position to judge who is or isnt a Christian. second, if you subscribe to the "harry potter is evil" mag, you could probably overlook this lyric. it just forms a better rhyme than anything else would..
ANYWAY! there really isnt a bad song on this CD. the sound is like a blend of blink182 and TFK. many of the songs are geared toward the high-school/college crowd. good, meaningful lyrics in all songs. this is an all-around good album and is worth listening to.

Totally awesome punk pop/rock!I couldn't believe it when I found out these guys were a solo project of Thousand Foot Krutch! I bought this CD for the song "Crazy Mary", but ended up loving every minute of it. Really great stuff - if you like Relient K, you'll like FM Static. I'd recommend it to anyone!

Good side project,
This review is from: What Are You Waiting for (Audio CD)
I wanted to clue people in on something in case they are unaware. This band and album were created as a side project for two members of the band Thousand Foot Krutch. This album was not necessarily intended to be serious or thought-provoking. Thousand Foot Krutch is where these band members choose to be more serious about their song writing subjects. FM Static is an opportunity for them to let loose and goof around. I think this is very fun album. The band members are writing songs in this way on purpose. So listen to the album for what it was intended to be, fun.

This is one of my favourite CDs - it's fun and catchy, and great to fall asleep to. I go through periods of listening to it nonstop, then move onto something else. However, I always come back, there's something about it that just won't get out of your head! Yes, perhaps the lyrics aren't "deep" but they suit me just fine. I'm greatly looking forward to their next CD.

Plenty of talent, great music, but lyrics get old,

Honestly, I loved these guys when I first bought the CD, but i gradually liked it less and less. Don't get me wrong, the band is very excellent, very tallented and i very much enjoy the beats and rythms of their songs, but 9 out of the 11 (that includes the hidden track) songs are about girls or some other girl. And that gets old rather quickly. So I would say 'Don't save up your hard earned cash for this album, but if you have money to burn, give it a shot'. I hope they'll give more variety in their songs later on.

For the longest time, I've stayed away from "christian" punk for fear that the lyrics would be, well, too preachy. It was only when I heard Relient K's "two lefts don't make a right...but three do" that I learned what I'd been missing out on. Bands like Relient K, Ace Troubleshooter, Hawk Nelson and MxPx make good, clean music, and although the members are christian, the lyircs are basically cleaned up versions of songs by blink, sum 41 ect. Well, after being into the above mentioned christian bands for a little while, I decided to try FM static. Follwing in the footsteps of it's peers, "what are you waiting for" makes little to no reference to God, instead singing about highschool years, girlfriends and making and breaking up. Its clean cut, but at the same time, not overly preachy or self-rightous. My only complaint is that it's not as good as say, "The madness of the crowds" by ace troubleshooter or "mmhmm" by relient k. In other words, Its pretty average. Also, its a little on the short side, with only 10 tracks running at about 2 1/2 minutes each. If you're a fan of pop-punk (secular or christian), download a few tracks, and if you like what you hear, pick up "what are you waiting for", a solid 4 star album

Of COURSE it's not TFK!,

Did they really think TFK's singer would take all the time and effort to make a new band if it was going to sound like Phenomenon? No way. This is most definately a roll down your windows and blast it music. It's fun, light, and extremely catchy. You'll find yourself singing these songs DAYS after you've listened to them. Great cd, from some amazing guys!

Great sound and vocals. I like Relient K, and FM static has a similar sound, except they have a more punk rock feel and not so many of the harmonizing falcetto notes that made RK great. Would like to see a little more focus on God and less on girls, but still great cd. Highly reccommended.
