If you're a Mary Wesley fan, you will be delighted to discover Imogen Parker!!,
By Lady Librarian (South Africa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: What Became Of Us (Paperback)
This was my third Imogen Parker book and I was not disappointed! Once again, her very real insightfulness....her delicious details....her "I know you!" kind of people, flesh out the pages from the outset and you are drawn into her skilled and sophisticated story-telling as it unfolds through exquisitely recognisable settings and landscapes.
This book takes us to London and Oxford where the tale is spun around the lives of four richly different women. We toggle effortlessly between their earlier lives as students and their current contexts some 20 years later. Having hunted high and low for someone to please me the way the wonderful, wonderful Mary Wesley did, I can tell you that I absolutely LOVE this writer.

A Great Read!,
By A Customer
This review is from: What Became of Us (Hardcover)
Annie, Ursula, Manon, and Penny. They'd been friends at college, close friends -- and on that last, apparently perfect Oxford afternoon they'd drunk champagne and tried to imagine what the future held in store. Now, they meet again -- same place, and another glorious summer. But Penny is no longer with them, and for the other three, this is a time to confront the reality of their lives. During the course of one highly charged weekend, old passions are revived, love newly found and long-held secrets revealed. Funny, poignant, but above all life-affirming. Parker's new novel brilliantly pinpoints our hopes and fears at the brink of a new era. |
