Very helpful info you probably won't get from your vet, September 3, 2011
This review is from: What Cats Should Eat: How to Keep Your Cat Healthy with Good Food (Kindle Edition)
The top 5 cat health problems in the US are urinary tract infection, recurring gastritis/vomiting (a common sign of IBD), chronic renal failure, diarrhea, and diabetes. These are not natural problems for cats. I believe they are largely rooted in the high carb & grain kibble diets that even most vets approve/sell. I don't believe your vet means any harm, I just believe that as a society we haven't caught up with some facts about what is healthy for cats.
Dr. Hofve isn't selling any pet food, she's just a vet who thinks critically and cared enough to look more deeply at what is going on. Fortunately for us, she's written a great short but thorough guide to making better choices. Just about any question you've had about cat food ingredients and what to feed your cat(and why!)is answered in this book. The life you save may be your cat's!
