5.0 out of 5 stars A very nice version of the old English folk song December 7, 2011

I don't know much about Tony Elman, except that his Christmas-themed album "Winter Creek" was produced by Real Dream Music. "What Child is This (Greensleeves)" is one of thirteen tracks on the album. "Greensleeves" has long been one of my favorite songs, and I've probably heard at least 15-20 different versions of it.

According to his Amazon artist overview page, Tony Elman is also an accomplished hammered dulcimer player.

This instrumental version of "Greensleeves" by Tony Elman is one of the most pleasing versions that I've heard. For one thing, it's simply done and doesn't have the long prelude that some versions have. It's a very melodic sound and a nice rendition of the beloved old English folk song.

I listened to the samples of the "Winter Creek" album, and it has some very fine instrumentals.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tony Elman's Greensleeves September 14, 2013
Tony Elman's rendition of "Greensleeves" (also known as "What Child Is This") truly stuns me with its beauty. While admittedly I don't know much about Tony Elman, he clearly possesses talent and anyone else who collaborated on this with Tony certainly did a fantastic job as well! This is terrific not just for the holiday season but all year round! The guitar, flute and more all combine to make this a truly fine version of "Greensleeves" and there's a part of it that has an imaginative, jazzy flavor to it that sticks in my mind and makes me want to listen to it again.

I recommend this music by Tony Elman. If you like creative renditions of old folk songs that are also heard at holiday time (but can also be enjoyed all year long) you won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful...and free for some reason. January 3, 2013

I was looking for a pretty version of What Child is This, and came across this. It has a really pretty classical kind of medieval flute sound to it, very Greensleeves-y if that mistakes, then there's a transition into an almost Spanish-guitar/jazz kind of feel, with the flute joining in at the end. So slightly unusual, but a very pretty song. Did I mention it was free? At least when I got it it was. You can't go wrong there.

Don't remember downloading it, so I hope it is in my cloud or something. I hope I did not pay much for it. Wondered why my balance from my gift card went.
