First, what I like about this book is that while it shows all the fun things about Christmas it really comes home to the real purpose of Christmas and explains it in a straightforward way. I like that. I also enjoy the pictures. They're not particularly memorable, but they're cute.
I only give this book 2 stars because the rhymes are INANE. Maybe I'm picky, but I CANNOT stand reading this book out loud, especially not dozens of times. The rhymes are the fluff kind that are made to fill the space. You know, the I-have-to-load-an-entire-stanza-but-only-have-five-words-that-really-matter-so-what-should-I-do-with-the-rest-of-the-space kind of rhymes. I've owned this book for three years and read it loads of times, but have still never read the entire thing. I just pull out what I deem to be the important lines from each page and skip the rest because they really get on my nerves. And I've found it's a perfectly good book without all the extra "empty" lines. An editor should have given this a good trimming, if only for the sake of my sanity.
Overall, if you're looking for a book that teaches the meaning of Christmas in a cute way, you might as well go with this one, but if you're at all picky about the words you have to read over and over to your kids....ugh.
