This picture book presents the set number concept through pictures of everyday objects. For instance, to present the number two, readers are shown not only arms and legs but also the two pieces of bread used in sandwich making. Other basic concepts such as shapes are included in a fully integrated fashion. Karlin's illustrations are simple block designs in bright primary colors on a white backdrop, reminiscent of the illustrations of Donald Crews. My daughter received this book as a gift when she was a year old. She is now almost 3 and still really enjoys reading this one. The great thing about this book is how it teaches your child to see counting and numbers in familiar objects, but does it differently than the other five million counting books out there. I'd recommend it!
