4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good For Beginners March 22, 2014
Verified Purchase
Good basic info for new PC buyers and/or tech-challenged people like myself, I wish I had something like this when I bought my computer. The book covers the basics of a computer, such as CPU, hard drive and external hard drive, flash drive, keyboard and mouse. Very basic descriptions and what each component does. Overall, I'd recommend this if you have no idea what you need in a computer and if you'd like to know how the components work together.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clear, concise advice. January 4, 2012
If you (or someone you know) is a bit overwhelmed by the options and terminology involved in buying a new PC, read this book before heading to the store. It breaks down pesky computer terms like processor speed and RAM into easy to understand language that empowers PC consumers. Also, the author explains why you may want to consider more disk space (storing music, etc.) or more graphics power (editing videos, etc.)in accessible terms with real world examples. Highly recommended for anyone that wants to know more than what the brochure tells you (or just wants to understand what the heck the brochure is telling you!).
