I very much enjoyed this story with it's, sometimes extremely shocking, twist and turns. The language and energy behind the writing made me feel as if I were talking to an old friend about their life story. It was so "No hold bars". Mr. Williams was able to capture the life of the main character (Brooklyn) and really portray the full depth of each stage of his development.
Aside from editing errors and a lack of flow in some areas, I believed this to be a very good read. John R. Williams has set a high standard for himself with this being his first solo project. I look forward to only greater things to come. I impatiently await my copy of his second book, "The Reunion", so that I can continue in his urban tongued fantasies.

Author, John R. Williams writing style in this novel is best described as cognitive, well written and creative.

In the novel, What could of been; the saint, the sinner, and the attempt, the author entices the reader with the sexual escapades of the protagonist, Mr. Brooklyn Price; a tall, chiseled physique, jaunty, sexy, whip appeal type of man. Due to his impetuous choices and reasoning, Brooklyn develops a perverted perception of women.

Beginning from his childhood, Brooklyn introduces the readers to the women in his life and their sexual encounters. A few of the women are: Madison, just nasty; Isabella, beautifully mysterious; Thursday, a church girl and Suki, the Vegas escort madame'.
Did Brooklyn find LOVE among these women? Did Brooklyn's attempt at LOVE fail thus leaving him a victim of women powerful sexual lures? Mr. Sexy (Brooklyn) may have acted as a sinner seeking to gratify his sexual desires or was his sexual escapades a bachelor's nightly dreams of What Could Have Been. Perhaps- it's all pure deception.

The author's wit is demonstrated chapter by chapter with a skillful woven storyline of grimey females, sex, lies deception laced with compassion, unconditional love and humor mingled cleverly into a heartfelt glorious conclusion.

What Could Have Been? by John R. Williams starts off by taking us through Brooklyn's life from adolescence to adulthood. A young man who loves women, he encounters multiple woman and engages in ménage a trios, orgies; you name it he is down for whatever.

He has traveled the world and bedded women of all calibers, from the shy, naive type to the wanton, lust-crazed vixen. During his travels he never denounces women, but that they all are different and he has had his heart broken a time or two in the past. We then stumble across an accident where we find Brooklyn laid up for quite some time, with no details on how he got there or what happened.

The scenes were not consistent and then seemed to run from each other rather than embrace and create a genuine story. While these tales are full of humor and very descriptive, I left each chapter wanting to know more about the main character. I was baffled on more than one occasion while reading this book, however the ending was enlightening. Mr. Williams talked of a love worth dying for and it is evident in his acknowledgment to his dear wife.

What Could Have Been is a wonderfully told story by Author John R. Williams. The author's use of words and imagery leaves the reader feeling as if he or she is living within the scenes he creates chapter after chapter. I felt as if I were in Chicago, New York, Vegas, and the various places the author takes you to with his descriptive writing. I saw things through Brooklyn's eyes.

Brooklyn is described as a man who is simple yet complex. You meet him and travel with him through various points in his life-his first innocent love(s) initially and then various sexual encounters with women who are described as being absolutely beautiful though flawed in some way. After these encounters Brooklyn's always left wondering, What Could Have Been?

The final chapter in this book is entitled The Awakening, and until you read it there are few words to describe it short of enlightening. John, thanks for taking me to that place where love is still so powerful.

I recommend this story to those who believe in the power of true love and those who need to be introduced to or reminded of that place where love still exists.

I look forward to the release of The Reunion which is sure to be another great read from The Author, John R. Williams. Look for this book late in November 2008 from Xpress Yourself Publishing!

AMAZINGLY SEXY BOOK WITH LOTS OF IMAGERY
The author is phenomenally descriptive in his story of Brooklyn Price, a troubled Adonis who just can't seem to find luck with women. Each chapter gets juicier and juicer building up to a surprise ending that came out of nowhere!!! WOW, this guy really hit all the right switches with this one!! I can't wait for more titles from this urban genius.
