The book what daddy did was a true story about a boy named Preston who had the perfect life and family, but then his parents began having arguments and fought all the time until one day his father mother moved out. Preston went to live with his dad and with in a few month time period his dad could no longer handle the pressure and had a nervous break down ... he shot his wife and left Preston not knowing whether to forgive and forget or not. His father has just been released from prison after three years after the murder and Preston begins his battle of forgiveness.
I like this book because it was suspenseful, the book was very emotional, and you felt as though you were right there along with Preston and his family as they got the terrifying news. This is a catchy book and I know you will not want to put it down.
People who like suspense and thrill would be the people who would enjoy reading this book, and it has that love of a family feel to it, for those readers who do not appreciate the death as much, so it is a great book for anyone.
This book includes everything anyone would want to read!

This book was one of the best books that i have ever read. And trust me i have read a lot of books. This book was a very different story. It dealed with many serious issues and the story of a family being torn apart but the remains being held together by nothig but love. In this story a young boy has something every child loves dearly taken away from him, his mother. But not by any old stranger, but rather by his own father. In the trial his father is found guilty of murder, and serves his jail sententence. But after his father finishes his sentence the unthinkable happenes, the father moves in with the mothers parents, the temporary home of all of the survivors of this tragity. In other words there two sons. And amazingly the Oldest child ends up forgiving the father. They have an interesting relationship, but he still forgives him. This very unpredictable book has something that just gets to you in the end.

This review is from: What Daddy Did (Paperback)
What Daddy Did By: Neal Shusterman ISBN#: 0-316-78906-2 This is a novel that tells the experience of Preston Scott and the changes he went through, his struggles and trials. It rides your emotions like a rollercoaster and grips your heart painfully. Preston was a young boy. Everything was normal and perfect for him.. But then his parents got a divorce. Torn between the two, he eventually decides to live with his dad. Something is wrong with his dad, but Preston decides not to think too much about it, until his grandmother tells him the dreadful words one evening. "You can't be with your dad.... because it's your dad who killed your mom." When his father gets out of jail, Preston has to learn the meaning of forgiveness and love. We can all learn a lesson from Preston. I reccommend this book to people of all ages, because everyone needs to learn about forgiveness & love. Written by Courtney Slade 1-5-99

This review is from: What Daddy Did (Paperback)
I've loved this book since the first time I read it as a 6th grader. It's a great story about how a boy becomes a young man while dealing with struggles he faces caused by his parents divorce, and his father later murdering his mother.

It's a great story about overcoming life's obstacles, forgiveness, and moving on with your life.

4.0 out of 5 stars Why did he do this?, June 9, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: What Daddy Did (Paperback)
The book What daddy did is about a boy who suffers a tragic loss. It tells about how the father shoots and kills the mother. He felt lonely since he had no mother and father was in jail. When his father got back from jail, he finds a new women. Her name is Mandy. Mark really dislikes her he calls her "the man". His little brother, Anthony likes her, but that's because he doesn't know anything. Mark tells him to stop calling her mommy. Because she isn't family yet. He killed the mother after they got into a big fight. If this happened to my parents I would be having a hard time too.

I liked the book What daddy did because, my friend's parents got a divorce. Now I know how she feels. It must have been really hard on her going from one house to the other until her mother died... She didn't go to school for two whole weeks. I felt really sorry for her.

If a was a book reviewer I would give this book four stars. It is amazing to get the exact image of how kids feel. When their parents are separated. I loved this book.
