Good band with alot of potential,
This review is from: What Demons Do To Saints (Audio CD)
I bought this cd after hearing "Our Last Road" and "The Reason". I wasn't a fan of the vocals at first, which are extreme, but they grew on me pretty quickly, especially after I watched a live video on youtube. They also use a keyboard, or "keytar" to add atmosphere to their music, which does work well. The standout song is the hauntingly powerful "7861". Listen to that song on their myspace a few times, and more likely that not it will grow on you. It's a very good cd, I recommend it.

This is a good CD, the music is good, but the recording quality kind of sucks, also if you are into the lyrics make sure you read them because this album is pretty Christian like and the next album is not at all, almost like the band lost their religion in between albums so check out the lyrics, the music is sick though if you like metal/hardcore.

I saw them on a Victory Records podcast and thought they reminded me alot of The Black Dahlia Murder. a decent band, a decent album. They have a couple of filler tracks scattered in the album that seemed like they were a bit rushed in production.

If you haven't heard of these guys you are in for a treat. The vocal style the guy uses alone is somthing I haven't heard before. I heard alot of metal bands over the years black metal death metal thrash metal and metalcore and this is a first. Whether the bands were from the U.S. or other countries I have never encountered this type of vocal style. It's unexplainable you just have to hear it to see what I mean. It's something different and will give you a taste of what could be a great band in the future if they continue with what their good at. Hopefully the next album they release follows in the same footsteps at least in the vocal department. Nothing sucks more than when a band releases a solid release and then stray away from it and give you somthing completely different. If you want something different and want something that will make you say WOW!!! then check this band out. This is one killer new band of 2007!!!

I got hooked on Beneath the Sky back when I heard the demo for 7861. Being a big fan of Zao, I instantly loved the vocal style and presentation. The more I listened to this song, the more I found influences from other great bands, hardcore and other. The album as a whole sounds great and is very comprehensive. For a first attempt (if you don't consider the EP their freshman disc), I'm floored by this album.
My favorites are "7861", "A Grave Mistake", "The Reason", and "The Last Road".

How did this end up in a store?,

After hearing the first 30 seconds of this Cincinnati based bands ear wrenching metal music, I decided I already had enough reason to dislike their album.
One of the most important parts of selling your cd as a band is your recording. This cds recording sounded like it was finished in two days. Im not talking about having the record tracked in two days, I'm talking about tracking, mixing, and mastering done is such a slip shot and shotty fashion that no respective ear would want to hear. Second most important tool for selling your bands cd is talent. While many bands have sold their cd based on visual appeal (this band has none) or a few catchy lines, Beneath The Sky lacks the musical skills to surpass a middle school Blink 182 cover band. Guitar riffs sound like they were thought up in a hour, drum fills and beats are out of time. I am sorry if you like this band, but its probably because they live in your town and you have been suffering from listening to this for so long that its starting to sound good. As for the rest of the world outside Ohio, this band should be avoided and ignored. |
