A very short snippet on the life of a dragon slayer as he rides into town.

You know, most of the time when I review short stories or snippets, I tend to give more leeway on the quality of plot or writing, etc, due to the space restraints of short stories. But this snippet, really needs no leeway. Simply put, the author's writing style is really, really good! Within the restraints of a FEW pages, the author is able to skillfully convey the mood of the story and interesting ideas. My only disappointment, if any, is that it's a pity that it's not a longer story! I'll be keeping an eye out for this author and her future works.

I believe that this is more an advertisement of the author's writing style than anything else. While the storyline is interesting and I would love to see the dragonseeker character fleshed out and a true story written, this took longer to sync to my Kindle than it did to read it. If you want to see if the writing style of the author is a good fit, by all means download. If you are looking for a reading experience, pass it over and move on.

This was an "amuse bouche" of a story - a short, sweet, small taste of a tale. The only two characters we meet are the viewpoint character, a female dragonseeker (she prefers that term to "dragonslayer") and her village host, the mayor. Even in this short short format, the two characters are clearly drawn. The author skillfully reinforces the reader's general expectations about how dragons interact with the medieval world, as she introduces the facts specific to her take on the story. This was a delicious re-imagining of a classic situation that leaves the reader with a smile of satisfaction at the end.

To counter the second review and partially the first, it seems to me that this *free* story is a delightful little tidbit, like an hors d'oeuvre offered graciously as a sample of what the author can do, to let you know what she can deliver given full means and time. It's perfect for a brief break in the routine whether you're at work at the office or at home, or any moment's distraction, like a good joke being told with the punchline at the end. It gives you an idea of the writer's style and feel and armed with that you can decide if you want more or not. If it isn't what you're looking for, the few minutes enjoyment leaves you under no obligation, and was purely offered by the generosity of the author.

I never pass up a chance to read Dayle Dermatis's writing. This is a great little story - very brief, but well written and with a clever unexpected ending (which seems to be a trademark of Dayle's work). The only down side to Dayle's short stories is they're like getting a once-piece sample of fantastic chocolate; it's enough to spark your appetite, but then you're stuck craving more. Keep up the great e-books/stories Dayle!

I had this story read in about 10 minutes and was very pleasantly surprised. It was not a deep thought provoking book just a fun short story. I liked the characters and the surprise ending. I would love to see more of the dragon "finder" in the future.
Even though this was such a short story I was fascinated by it from start to finished.

When I got to the end, I thought I just finished the first chapter, so I was disappointed there--the reason being that I had just read something that delighted me and I was anxious to read more. GREAT twist on dragon stories.
