5.0 out of 5 stars My Life Story in Music
I don't know where to begin, this movie has touched my husband and I even 3 years after the original release date. The soundtrack is mind blowing and makes you re-live the movie all over again. The first track on the album every time I hear it I am reminded why I fell in love with my darling Aden all over again. For classical and especially violin lovers this is the CD to...

1.0 out of 5 stars great soundtrack, great movie but theres one problem
now dont get me wrong. i love this movie and the music great BUT (theres always a but) the composer completely stole one of the main songs from an odd band name sigur ros.
thier song Agaetis Byrjun has the same tune. just listen to it. its available for free download on this site.
its more band like and less orchestrated carbon copy of the first song... with...

The first track on the album every time I hear it I am reminded why I fell in love with my darling Aden all over again. For classical and especially violin lovers this is the CD to buy for your ultimate collection, as well as for all those lovers out there, just pop in the CD and with the first note you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

5.0 out of 5 stars What "Memories" may come, March 26, 1999

This review is from: What Dreams May Come (1999 Film) (Audio CD)
I have just finished watching the movie for which this is the soundtrack. I kept hearing an intriguing and familiar melody throughout. Toward the end of the movie I realized what it was. And when Annie and Christie found each other again in their dream house (in the movie) I realized it was a song that I had heard and cherised nearly 30 years ago. What a wonderful memory!! "Beside You" a song that I dearly love and still listen to, so marvelously done by its original co-composer, Michael Kamen. Of course 30 years ago it was done by Kamen's band "The New York Rock Ensemble". Hearing 'Beside You' intertwined throughout this movie was truly wonderful. I will be ordering this CD simply from hearing the music on the movie.... and Michael...thank you again for 'dreaming' such a heavenly song.

This soundtrack is one of my favorite orchestral CDs. The music is so wonderful that it causes you to pretty much go into your own dream. I listen to it sometimes when I take a bath and it is the most exhilerating yet still relaxing and it allows you to go through all of your emotions with the music. Isn't that what we all want?

5.0 out of 5 stars This is what true love between soul mates sounds like..., October 14, 2006
This review is from: What Dreams May Come (1999 Film) (Audio CD)
Michael Kamen artfully and poignantly lays down the basic premise of this film into music. Have you ever loved someone so much, that you would forsake paradise in heaven and journey into the depths of hell for all eternity to be with the one you love? Kamen's score tells the story of one who did, and tells is with the kind of power and drama rarely found in film scores today. In a nutshell, while many film scores can evoke an emotion from your heart, few can reach in and pull all the pain, love, fear, hope, and triumph locked away deep within your soul up to the surface. This one does. Since Michael Kamen passed away in 2003 - and Ennio Morricone isn't getting any younger - this is likely to remain one of the most beautiful pieces you will ever hear in your entire life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Alternate Composer, October 16, 2001

If you enjoyed this CD you'll likely enjoy the alternate composer Wojciech Kilar's version of "What Dreams May Come." Wojciech was orginally assigned to the project but when the directors heard the music they decided it was too dramatic and it didn't have the quality they were looking for. A song included in this version is a beautiful flute duet, "My Life Before Me". Wojciech Kilar has composed many movie scores including such soundtracks as "The Portrait of a Lady."

4.0 out of 5 stars I loved it all, mellows me out with tear in my eye., April 12, 2000

I loved the movie, it's a thinking movie. I hope that one day I may be able to have a relationship much like the characters in the movie. This soundtrack lets me relive the moments of the movie. The final track on the CD is absolutely beautiful. With a tender voice and the emotion-stirring instrumentals in the background working in conjunction with the lyrics of Track 12, I can listen to the song repeatedly. The song is so powerful, it's perfect for a wedding.

5.0 out of 5 stars not stolen from sigur ros, September 23, 2005

This review is from: What Dreams May Come (1999 Film) (Audio CD)
to the person who thought the composer "stole" from sigur ros, the sigur ros album was released in 2001 whereas this soundtrack was released in 1998. nice try though.

aside from that, excellent soundtrack.
