5.0 out of 5 stars Very Funny - Photogs Will Enjoy
The "What the Duck" cartoons are very funny (for the most part - there are some misses) comics for people who are into photography. And the "What the Duck" plush toy is quite adorable too with its little camera hanging around its neck!

If you like Dilbert, and are also into photography, the tone & humor in these comics will likely appeal to you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad, But You've Got to Have an Interest in Photography
Before reading the strips in WHAT THE DUCK, I had never read a "What the Duck" comic strip. The strip is published online and has gained a rather large following. In terms of humor, the strip reminds me of "Dilbert" and kind of like "Pearls Before Swine". However, many of the jokes don't have much meaning unless you are at least familiar with photography. That...

5.0 out of 5 stars Photography Humor at its Best, September 12, 2009

This review is from: What the Duck: A W.T. Duck Collection (Paperback)
Aaron's comic strip has generated a massive following among amateur and professional photographers, and this book is a wonderful collection of his work. The great thing about this comic is that you don't have to be a professional photographer to "get it", since many of the strips are humorous to a wide spectrum of photographers. It has a somewhat dark sense of humor -- the duck is always getting the short end of the stick, he knows it, and he just keeps dealing with it. The most amusing thing about the comic strip is that the scenarios presented are true to life in one way or another, and as you become more involved with photography you tend to find it more amusing.

Definitely a book worth grabbing (especially if you follow the strip on whattheduck.com), and the price is right! Most things look better in print, and this comic is no exception.

This is my life as a professional photographer played by cynical ducks. Every frame rings true. It's fun.

very funny. I knew the strip from the web.
If you're into photography don't miss it: you will want to quote it every day.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, July 18, 2011

I saw this when I was skimming through Amazon to find a present for my boyfriend who is a photographer. I thought why not and ordered it on a whim. I'm glad I did. It has short little comic strips in it, and the majority are funny and cute. I enjoyed it and so did my boyfriend. I wouldn't have bought it if it cost more, but since it was cheap, I'm glad I bought it. Good for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure fun for all the photographers, amateur or pro!, February 23, 2010

In fact, you may not need to read a review to consider buying this book. Just visit the site whattheduck.com and see for yourself if the type/dose of humor present appeals to you or not. Most of the jokes here evolve around a pro photographer and they are never lost on amateurs who might have considered becoming a pro for a moment. Dilbert, our photographer, has already become a classic. This book will certainly be a nice present for everybody shooting actively.

In terms of humor, the strip reminds me of "Dilbert" and kind of like "Pearls Before Swine". However, many of the jokes don't have much meaning unless you are at least familiar with photography. That doesn't mean you have to be a professional photographer, but to get the most out of the strips you have to have some basic experience or knowledge in photography. I enjoyed probably over half of the strips in WHAT THE DUCK. Half of the ones I didn't enjoy was because I didn't understand the allusions or what the strip was satirizing. I didn't enjoy the rest because they just weren't all that funny. Overall, a pretty good collection of comic strips that will appeal to photographers. Also recommended for fans of the strip.

......I didn't find this book nearly as humorous as I had hoped it would be. My wife commented after reading several pages, that the jokes must be "photography inside jokes" that she just didn't get. I recommend that you save your money, but that's only my opinion.
