Book Description

This is a New Adult/Contemporary Romance intended for 17+. Contains mature subject matter and sexual situations.

Jason Kincaid is young, hot and successful.

An All-Star outfielder for the Seattle Mariners, he finally had everything he ever wanted, including a second chance with his high school sweetheart, Megan Williams.

But their hopes for a ‘happily-ever-after’ are dashed by tragedy.

A horrific car accident wipes out most of Jason's memories. Unable to recall anything from the last fifteen years of his life, Jason is suddenly adrift, his once charmed life now in ruins.

Megan finds herself in the untenable position of having to deal with the fact that the man she’s helping to rebuild his life may look, and even act, like her beloved fiancé, but in reality, isn’t any longer.

Trying to protect herself, as well as Jason, Megan fights the attraction between them. . .to no avail. As their potent connection inevitably draws them closer, Megan wonders,

With the memories of their relationship gone, can love endure?

5.0 out of 5 stars Katie Lee is one AMAZING storyteller! July 30, 2013
By Carrie
Format:Kindle Edition
I don't normally read romance but I was ensnared from the beginning all the way to the end with Katie's book, 'What Endures'. I love reading debut works from first time authors. What a new and refreshing voice. What an amazing storyteller! I expect great things from this author.

I'm a rather picky reader. Bad dialogue is what I hate the most but with this book, I could tell the characters controlled the story and the author was only the fingers that typed their tale. Katie let her muse flow. She allowed her characters to come to life. I love this book!

Jason has been involved in a serious car accident. When he awakens from his coma, he discovers he has no memory of the last fifteen years. His life as a major league baseball player is gone. His life as a super star and living the high life is gone. And, his world with the love of his life has faded away. He has no memory of Megan.

Megan has not left Jason's side since his accident. Faithfully she stays only to discover the dreaded news. Jason's physical injuries will take time but his memory might never come back. Carefully he is introduced back into his world in hopes to re-learn the past. To prevent any added post-traumatic stress, Megan's and Jason's relationship is put on hold. Megan moves out of their home together and starts a new life as Jason's friend and not his finance.

As the months move on hints of the past come to life but not because of remembered memories. Can Jason's and Megan's love be found again or is it just too hard to love a woman he doesn't know.

If you're looking for the kind of book to get lost in, the kind you can't put down, pick up Katie Lee's book 'What Endures'.

I'm a Katie fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars What Endures Book Review October 15, 2013
By Joana
Format:Kindle Edition
What Endures was so much fun to read. The family drama was very entertaining but also very realistic because no family is perfect and all families have their own drama. I loved Megan and Jason as a couple and I just wanted to keep on reading to find out what happened between them before Jason's accident. I was so into this book that I could actually feel what the characters were feeling. Whenever a book can make me feel what the character's are feeling then I know it's a great book. I really loved it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great summer read July 30, 2013
By Dreamer
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I can't imagine having this great life and waking up to a completely different one. It's true that a second can change your life forever.

Katie Lee weaves a great yarn about love and loss, and she explores the question of whether true love can endure in spite of life's fastballs that knock the wind out of you and have you eating the infield.

She does a great job of developing her characters, Jason Kincaid and Megan Williams. The chemistry between the lovers is just right and we can't help but root for them.

But we know that life can be a tough game to play. Katie doesn't pull any punches. She knows this, too, and she allows her characters the human qualities that so many of us can relate to. We come to accept that life is full of strikeouts and foul balls, but we hold on, hoping for that homerun, wanting desperately to hug home plate.

Do yourself a favor and read this book. It will make you think about how fragile life can be and that in the end, it's not who wins and who loses, but how the game is played that counts.

2.0 out of 5 stars Didn't care very much for the main characters September 14, 2013
By Kate
Format:Kindle Edition
I read this book because I was told it was new adult - it isn't. Megan may be 26 years old but she's not at the stage in life that I associate with new adult heroines. She's established in her career and whilst Jason may be her first true love - they're not newly together. They've been married, have lived together for years and - prior to the accident - are on the way to happily ever after.

There were moments where I thought this book could somehow bring the adult characters together with their new adult selves - with flashbacks and memories of how life was like when they first got together and all the trials their relationship had to go through - but those memories were few and far between.

I like the idea behind this book. It's very much like the movie The Vow (which I know was based on a memoir but I haven't read it). True love derailed by amnesia. However I didn't like the characters very much. Megan is a little too well liked but too willing to walk away from hard work. It didn't make sense considering the back story that's revealed throughout the novel. Jason is rather unlikable - I found nothing endearing about him in the slightest and I think therein lies my biggest problem. I need to want a couple to be together to like a romance novel. But Jason had no redeeming qualities so to be honest - I didn't really care one way or another if they ended up together.

There are good things about this book. Tyler - one of the supporting characters - is entertaining and I'd be interesting in reading a spinoff about him and his own issues.

Overall, this book was a little predictable. The characters go around in circles and when they're no doing that, they're not making a lot of sense. But if you like the main characters of Megan and Jason, I can see that this would be a sweet romantic read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Realistic, gripping book November 9, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved this book, and couldn't put it down till the very end.

It was gripping all through to the very end, and goes through the whole cycle of love, loss (of memories), hope for a HEA.

A decent level of spice thrown in, this second chance book shows us how challenging life incidents can be, in molding relationships together, and sustaining them.

Megan and Jason are protagonists in this book, and undergo a plethora of changes - emotional, physiological, psychological, to get to where they have to be.

Any life altering event is a humbling experience and this book has gone the extra mile in bringing that feeling out.

Might we expect a sequel from Katie Lee, and more others in this genre?
