This is a well-written and thoughtful book, but it's a bit wordy and factual for the early (2 1/2 - 3 year-old) preschool set. Probably better for child who is starting preschool at age 3 1/2 - 4.

Great at preparing for preschool,

We got this for my two year old who will be starting preschool in about a month. He loved this book and is so excited about going to preschool. He has to pack his backpack and a pretend lunch every morning then he carries his backpack around all day! It answers all the questions kids might have about preschool and it doesn't talk about being scared of going to school which most books do and we don't want him to expect to be scared so this book is perfect!

My son, who has Autism, likes this book! It helped with preparing him for preschool. (which he started one day after turning 3) It is written like a social story. I did have to adjust the text a little while reading it..his class is all boys and they don't play outside. He really likes the page "What is a teacher" and "will Mommy and Daddy stay with me". It brought up things I did not think to tell him..like he would have a cubby of his own. He still likes to read this book after being in preschool for a couple weeks.

Great book for preschool transition!,

This book was a great help to my daughter when we were getting her ready for preschool the first time. She was almost 3 years old and had never been away from her mom or dad before. She is also rather shy. She loved the book and kept it with her all the time. We read it at night and any other time during the day she wanted to hear it. I have recommended this book to many people to help the transition. The transition to preschool went really well since she knew what to expect and she asks to go to school all the time.

What to expect at preschool explains what the child will be doing at preschool.,
This review is from: What to Expect at Preschool (What to Expect Kids) (Paperback)
This book is good but a little long per page. Being a preschool teacher I look for fewer words per page and bright pictures. It had the pictures, just too many words. It did tell the children what they would be doing in preschool.

My daughter was very apprehensive about starting pre-school at age 3 1/2. This book helped to explain what school is like and what to expect. She didn't want to go and this book helped to convince her to try it. Now in month 2 she really loves school.

Awesome for parents!,

I just bought this book for my 2.5-year-old daughter who is going to start preschool in a few weeks. I was amazed at how it held her attention and how the illustrations caught her eye. She asked many questions. Perhaps more importantly, though, the book answered many of MY questions as a parent. Preschool wasn't very popular when I was younger, and so this is an experience that I never had. The book addresses many of the details of preschool and incited excitement and curiosity for both the grown-up and the toddler reader ...

Too Wordy For Kids,

This review is from: What to Expect at Preschool (What to Expect Kids) (Paperback)
My son loves listening to me read, and can sit still for long books. But this book was over the top, I am not sure that any young child would be interested in listening to this book. My son lost interest on the very first page.
However, I went through the book again and used my own words to go with the pictures and he enjoyed it. Overall, I wish I had not ordered this book. I should have listened to the other reviews.

All I can say is my three and a half year old daughter loves this book. She just started preschool and this book describes the staff, activities, manners, etc involved in a typical day at preschool. I highly recommend it.

This review is from: What to Expect at Preschool (What to Expect Kids) (Paperback)
This is an excellent book for those entering preschool for the first time! It explains exactly what happens throughout the day while away at school and reassures the young readers that mom and dad return. It highlights the fun activities they have to look forward to and sparks excitement for school.
