This book is good, except for one page, where the big heading reads "does going to the dentist hurt?". Just putting that suggestion out there can cause a kid to pause and go, hum... maybe a dentist is a scary thing. My 2.5 year old can't read - so I just say "what is going to the dentist like?" and then read on. The book has cartoonish drawings of numerous innocuos dental tools (mirror, scraper, squirter, polishing brush, etc.) and it covers the aspects of what a dental room looks like, what will happen at a check up appopintment. It is good, except that one part. Barney Goes to the Dentist is a better book.

This book isn't really fun to look at or read. I bought this to introduce my 3 year old to the dentist, but the book bored him and we've never even finished it. A year and a half later and he's never wanted to revist it. Try the Elmo or SpongeBob dentist books instead!

Good book for kids visiting the dentist for the first time. Prepares them well. We read it before every trip to the dentist, and at other times, too.

My daughter loves this book,and I'm not exactly sure why. Maybe it's the doggy on all the pages. Maybe it's the subject matter (she DOES love brushing her teeth). Lately, she's been requesting it as her bedtime story. I've just been reading the cartoons and talking about the pictures, because it is very wordy. It would be a good book for an elementary-school child (about 2nd grade one) to read to herself.

This is a good book for older kids - 6+ years - who still have anxiety about going to the dentist. Nice pictures and explanations.
