This is what great satire is about,

My wife is expecting so I was wandering the parenting section doing my husbandly duty when I ran across this book. Javerbaum nailed it (keep your minds out the gutter) and created this funny as all hell, smartly written and timely piece of satire. THIS is what great satire is about! And what's so great about this book is that it's so necessary -pregnancy is such a serious and heavy time (babyproofing the place, doctor visits, classes, checking and re-checking diet, making sure your taking the proper vitamins etc etc)with just a general sense of worry that you're bringing another life into the world and you're now responsible for it, that you need to take a break. You need to laugh. But whether you're expecting or not, if you love great satire this is for you. So go down to your local bookstore and flip through a couple pages. Just be prepared for the strange looks you'll get when you start laughing out loud!

A very funny, non-serious look at pregnancy.,

Let me start by stating that Loyd Eskildson's one star review is garbage. Loyd Eskildson only writes a blog and wishes he was as talented as a writer as Javerbaum, who happens to be graduate of Harvard University and won an Emmy.
This is book brings a refreshingly new and funny perspective to the trials of pregnancy. There are too many pregnancy "how to" books out there that just copy each other's advice. Finally I can sit down and laugh during this all too serious time in my life. This book isn't to be taken serious, and I think that was Javerbaum's intent when he wrote this book.

I bought this book for my daughter who's expecting. She may have to fight me for it. I haven't stopped laughing since the first page. It also mixes in good info along the way. Great way to get any expectant mommy (and daddy) through the ups and downs of pregnancy.

A good friend gave this to my husband and myself at our baby shower. This book is absolutely the funniest thing I have ever read, and just in time for when I need a laugh the most.
After the third night of hearing non-stop hysterical laughter, my husband finally stole the book away from me when I dosed off. He also laughed his a** off, and we are currently fighting over who gets to read this book at night.

It's like reading the joke style of the Daily Show, but lasered in on one subject. Such a joy to pick up throughout the day. If you feel at home when watching Jon Stewart (and his writing team), pick this up.

Unapologetically irreverent. Best "Forward" I have read in a long time. Appropriate for those that have a good sense of humor. Not for the faint at heart. Do not let a new mom (24-48 hours) read it because the laughter hurts too much.

My wife is pregnant and bought this book for both of us. We started reading it today and I almost had a heart attack from laughing so hard.

As expecting parents, we LOVED this book. Do you have any idea how many humorless, medical-textbook-style books there are on pregnancy? Even the "friendly" ones are hard to get through, after a while. Of course, there's no real information here -- certainly not a substitute for that -- but it's a relief to end the day reading something to the belly that can genuinely make us both laugh. In its own way, this is a heartfelt book that just happens to have a razor-sharp wit. I suggest starting with the first words of the preface, written by the stork.
Of all the great stuff we've gotten from friends and family, this is our favorite.

I saw this book on the "Colbert Report". I ordered it as a gag gift for the baby shower for my daughter in law. She loves it. Before giving it My wife and I read it. Not a single sentence goes by without a hilarious zinger. Amazingly, much of the humor is true to life. There are also passages that push satire to your pants wetting limit.

This book had me laughing out loud the entire way. If you are not easily offended and love a good laugh, this book is definitely for you.
