5.0 out of 5 stars Aussie Hip Hop, October 21, 2005
By Benjy "Benjy" (Australia) - See all my reviews
Don't let the fact Figg comes from Bankstown, not Marcy Projects, throw you, this is solid. I'm a huge rap fan, and usually I don't listen to Aussie Hip Hop but this is a quality release.
The first single, 'I Gotta Know', hits up a catchy hook, a solid guest performance, and lyrics that are both serious and yet funny, in an Eminem way. That is why Figg has been compared to him on so many occasions in Australia.
The second single, 'My Oh My' is probably the best track on the cd. It's pure radio play, and Figg talks about that fact during the song.
The third single (will be released soon), 'Fairytale Master', showcases his ability to sound like Eminem, and make fun of life. He raps about twisted fairytales over a complex beat, it's great radio music.
Overall, this is a great release. The standout is 'Outspoken Outcast', which is a battle track with a twist. It is set up like a fresstyle battle, with both artists (Figgkidd and Quane) each dropping alternate verses getting at each other. It's 8 minutes of beef, with both sides played out on the same track. Quality.
Buy this album, it's solid.
