What God Whispers in the Night,
By Paul Linnman (Portland, OR USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: What God Whispers in the Night (Hardcover)
Ron Mehl has been blessed with the tremendous gift of being able to touch his readers' hearts, no matter who they are or what life has dealt them. His story telling conveys the most complex thoughts in very simple ways, which is, of course, the supreme test of all writers. Especially those who take on the most important of all subjects. After reading "What God Whispers in the Night", I was convinced more than ever of God's love, not simply as scriptural promise, but an intimate, and very real constant in my every day life. I'm not sure whether to credit the Lord or Ron for this, but the timing of this book, as usual, is perfect. I'm so thankful that Ron Mehl has been so gifted, and can't wait to see what he has has for all of us next.

Read all that Ron Mehl Wrote,

This review is from: What God Whispers in the Night (Hardcover)
Ron was a great man with a heart after God's own heart. He was an example to all who knew him of how to live your faith and how to live by faith. His great church is a legacy but more than that his life left imprints upon the hearts of all he came in contact with. Having said all that, read this book - matter of fact read anything written by Ron Mehl. Today he is in the presence of God - but as you read his writings you will sense God's presence too and draw closer to him.

A mighty man of God,

Last week were the memorial services for dear, dear Pastor Ron Mehl - Pastor to Pastors. What an incredible human being. The church there started with 12 persons. Now thousands. So many lives have been changed forever, by what God did and will continue to do through this man. He will be missed. I am thankful that there is such a book and tape ministry to share his wonderful teaching. Don't miss a chance to read about God, through the writings here. As someone once said - sometimes we just get to hold the pen as God writes it. Great book!

This is a beautiful book that reaffirms the fact that God is with us even in the darkest times of our lives. Hence, we are NOT alone. As far as chapter content goes, readers will soon realize that this is basically a slightly expanded version of Ron Mehl's "The Cure for a Troubled Heart," only without the emphasis on Psalm 37. "What God Whispers in the Night" contains a couple of additional chapters at the beginning and slight rewording and expansion in places, etc. Because of the obvious similarity and after having bought both books, I would recommend that future buyers who like this author choose either one book or the other but not necessarily both. Both books possess an excellent inspirational quality, though.

This is a book that belongs in every Christian's library to be read & re-read. It is a comforting reminder of God's help in trying times. I bought one for a hurting friend, read it before I sent it, & have since bought 4 more for gifts & for myself.

A bit of soul food,
This review is from: What God Whispers in the Night (Paperback)
I bought this on a whim as a bargain book. I am so glad I did. IT is an easy read. I have found its words most helpful and comforting. Ron Mehl was given a special gift for bringing Biblical wisdom to the needs of the human spirit.
If you find yourself frustrated, troubled and alone... you will benefit from this book.

Feeling troubled, read this book,

This was my first time reading a book by Ron Mehl. I was pleasantly surprised. Although I had bought the book several months earlier it was just what I needed by the time I picked it up. Feeling overwhelmed by life, Ron Mehl reminded me that God is in control, I can trust him, and he will use my weaknesses. At 134 pages this book was just the right size. Also, his illustrations really brought his concepts alive.

One of the finest Christian authors...,
This review is from: What God Whispers in the Night (Paperback)
I've been a big fan of Ron Mehl since I stumbled across one of his books offered for sale at a Goodwill in St. Louis. That book (God Works The Night Shift) was so well written and compelling that I paid full price for another Mehl book (The Tender Commandments) and another and another.
Mehl's writing style is so different from other contemporary Christian authors. It's delightfully conversational and forthright and simple and pure, which makes for easy reading and comprehension. And "What God Whispers In the Night" is just as delightful as his other books, filled with inspiration and hope and keen spiritual insights. My favorite quote from "What God Whispers In The Night": "God's promises are designed for the darkness." Another golden nugget, "You aren't truly trusting God until you're slightly out of control." This is a quick read and an easy read but it's simple truths will remain with you for a long time.

A friend gave us this book when my husband was terminally ill. The author's perspective of our path gave us wisdom and great comfort. Ron Mehl verbalized what we were feeling; expounding on thoughts we wrestled with while sharing his own story. He challenged us, reminding us over and over again to consider God's plan of love. As a result we rested in the fact that our loving,Sovereign God holds us safely in his grasp regardless of circumstances.
