This fine children's book is actually two books; What Grandmas Do Best and What Grandpas Do Best. The illustrations are very colorful and show the grandparents and grandchildren doing all sorts of fun things together, such as playing hide-and-seek, dancing, going to the beach, and going on a picnic. When you're done reading one of the stories, simply turn the book over and begin the second one!

This is a terrific book for young children. It does a good job of promoting the bond between grandparents and young children, and it also gives them many fun ideas of different things they can do with grandma and grandpa. This has become a favorite of my children, and they enjoy hearing both stories before bed. Pick up this good children's book and learn about the many fun things children can do with their grandparents. Your children will thank you for it.

I love the way Laura Numeroff offers the wonderful message that Grandma and Grandpa can do the same things. They just might approach them a little differently. This includes what they do best. For example, they both play games with their grandchild. Grandma plays cards and Grandpa plays miniature golf. They both make hats for their grandchild. Grandpa makes folded newspaper hats and Grandma knits hats. Every page emphasizes the special bond between grandchild and grandparent - especially when they get to what Grandma and Grandpa do best.

This book, What Grandmas Do Best, flips over to become What Grandpas Do Best. This is a companion book to What Mommies Do Best/What Daddies Do Best, and I think it is as wonderful as the first. We are waiting for the final critic, the nearly three year old great niece, who fell in love with the Mommies/Daddies book and had to have her own copy.

We bought two of these and wrapped them up as Mother's Day gifts to give to our parents to announce that we were expecting. The books came to us in perfect condition and were exactly what we were looking for.

Great book for new grandparents. One side is for grandma's and flip it over and it repeats, but for grandpas.

Great book for new Grand Parents, as well as old. Pictures are great and a wonderful book to share with grandchildren. Flip it over and the other grandparent starts from that end==adorable!

This is a fun and simple two-in-one picture book that is part of a popular series. After finishing "What Grandpas Do Best," you can flip the book over to read the identical text in "What Grandmas Do Best." Both grandpas and grandmas are shown playing hide-and-seek, helping build a sand castle and singing a lullaby. Although both grandpas and grandmas are doing the same activities, the grandpas are always doing it in a more masculine way, and the grandmas are doing it in a more feminine way. Grandpas are depicted as guinea pigs, pigs, elephants, bulldogs and monkeys while the grandmas are depicted as cats, mice, frogs, raccoons and a type of terrier. There are just a few words per page, and the illustrations are done in ink and watercolor. We live thousands of miles away from our parents, but this book does a wonderful job of helping remind our daughters how much their grandparents love them.

The text for both books is the same, but the illustrations vary. So "Grandpas make hats" is shown with grandpa making newspaper hats, but when Grandma does that she knits. Grandma is shown fingerpainting, grandpa is painting with watercolors. But the important thing is that both sets of grands can give you "lots of love".

Sweet story.

I bought this book not for my child but for my child to give her grandparents to show how much she loves them. It is cute to see how men and women may do the same things to entertain their grandkids but in different ways. It is also nice to have two books in one, just flip the book over for the other book.

A friend showed me her copy of this book and I had to have one. I ended up giving it to first-time grandparents at a baby shower, and had to get another copy for myself.
I like the sentiment, the wording is cute, and the illustrations are adorable. I also love that it has what grandmas do best on one side, and what grandpas do best on the other, that was a nice surprise.
