3.0 out of 5 stars fascinating but at times speculative
This is a hard book to rate. Much of what Kenyon writes is helpful and encouraging. But a bit of it is marred by false presuppositions. It's almost as if at times EW takes his revelation knowledge gleaned from our supernatural scriptures, and then applies his own logic of the senses which betrays him. Nevertheless, I love the way he writes: short, crisp heartfelt...

5.0 out of 5 stars A comprehensive explanation of the Pauline Revelation, January 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: What Happened From The Cross To The Throne (Paperback)
Kenyon, the subject of recent attacks on the charismatic movement by several well-known Christian authors, wrote many books in the early part of the century. He is credited with being the inspiration behind the success of several current day ministries. Kenyon's ability to explain, solely from the Word, the fullness of our redemption, the depth of God's love, and the total integrity of the Word cannot be refuted--and the changed lives his works bring are continuing proof. If you've wondered about a rational basis for your salvation and inheritance in Christ, you may find it explained here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Know what happened behind the scenes..., August 7, 2003
By
This review is from: What Happened From The Cross To The Throne (Paperback)
What most Christians do not know is that if you depend upon the Gospels to give a complete treatise on what happened when Christ died, you will miss out on what happened behind the scenes, so to speak. Because the Pauline revelation was just that: a revelation of what Christ did for us and what He accomplished at the Cross, in the tomb and in His resurrection.

It is only through a knowledge of what happened From the Cross to the Throne that the true majesty and glory of Christ can be seen and His substitutional work appreciated.

Since this type of teaching is lost on many areas of the institutional Church, it is no wonder that many have assailed the truths contained in this book. People simply do not know what Christ did in total, and to hear something that has been missing from their brand of christianity for so long sounds to them like another "revelation".

In reality, it is Paul's revelation and it is scriptural and the Church needs to be taught in this area for when we know what Christ accomplished, we know what we are capable of doing through HIM.

Highly recommended...

5.0 out of 5 stars Unveil the Cross so that we can see Jesus..., December 6, 1999
This review is from: What Happened From The Cross To The Throne (Paperback)
Kenyon had a relationship with God that transcends time. He was an author in tune with the Spirit of God. He doesn't give the reader alot of fluff or opinion but instead he backs up every statement with the Word of God. This book is deep and yet very understandable, it is modern and yet a classic. This book will unveil to you the cross in all its glory and open the veil of the Holiest of Holies unto you. Read it slowly... because this book unveils great understanding of who Jesus is and what he still doing for the believer. He is our Great High Priest!

The facts and studies from this book have turned my life around!
And this happened before the critics came forth. They just don't have their eyes opened to the truth, just gossip. This book is Bible based and will explain a lot of things you have wondered about or that you wondered where the reality is. Try it, you'll like it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!, June 26, 2007
This review is from: What Happened From The Cross To The Throne (Paperback)
Kenyon is masterful in explaining spiritual concepts without the "Christianese" that we find in so many Christian authors today. This is a great book for the studious Christian who is interested in who the Bible says they are in Christ and what Jesus did to ensure that position. Once you get used to the one and two sentence paragraphs throughout, the book is also a surprisingly easy read.

3.0 out of 5 stars fascinating but at times speculative, May 19, 2005

This is a hard book to rate. Much of what Kenyon writes is helpful and encouraging. But a bit of it is marred by false presuppositions. It's almost as if at times EW takes his revelation knowledge gleaned from our supernatural scriptures, and then applies his own logic of the senses which betrays him. Nevertheless, I love the way he writes: short, crisp heartfelt sentences, at times repetitive but one gets the point. One huge caveat is that he also writes as if he's declaring biblical truths rather than being merely speculative.

Early in the book Kenyon states that it's been proven that a person's blood type is determined by the father - which is just not true. This leads him to conclude that Jesus' blood was untainted by the adamic nature because He had no human father. Jesus then had special blood and since life is in the blood (Lev.17:11), Jesus had the life of God in him. He couldn't die. That is why to Kenyon, Jesus had to literally become sin and take on the nature of Satan - only then did His body become mortal. Only then could He die. And that when He died He died a complete death, physically and spiritually, the same death that the unredeemed natural man will experience. Jesus tasted death for us. Sounds good, but just recall that we know today that a person's blood type isn't necessarily determined by the father...

The rest of the book is a fascinating account of Kenyon's highly speculative insights about what happened from the cross to the throne and what it means for us. I love the chapter "What Happened On The Cross", and Kenyon's studies in Hebrews are so good they could be a book by themselves.

Another high point is Kenyon's observation that the Gospels show true Spirit-led authorship because especially Luke and Mark would have been familiar with Pauline revelation, having travelled with Paul. Yet, as Kenyon understandably enthuses, the gospel writings from their pen show a spiritual restraint concerning Pauline thought. Amazing stuff.

I sum "What Happened" as essential for the Kenyon reader but perhaps not as essential for other Christians. Kenyon's "Hidden Man" is probably the most comprehensive of his books - perhaps I'll review that one next, it's wonderful & changed my life! The more interested reader would do well to also check out Troy Edwards's extensive online article "Did Jesus Die Spiritually?" which builds a biblical case for the JDS doctrine; and also Rob Bowman's "Word-Faith Controversy" which exposes some holes in JDS.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spiritual insights into Christ's great redemption for us..., May 22, 2007
This review is from: What Happened From The Cross To The Throne (Paperback)
If you want to understand what "redemption" is all about, read this book!

E. W. Kenyon takes us into the gospels and epistles and explains in depth what our Lord Jesus Christ actually accomplished for us.

"The object of the redemption that God wrought in His Son was to make man righteous." (p. 13). We are righteous before God! Do you think this realization might change your prayer life?!! It did ours! My wife and I placed a bid on a new home...lost that bid to another buyer...kept praying...and got the house back!

Kenyon goes on to explain why God made man righteous: "Man must be able to stand in the presence of God without the sense of guilt, inferiority or condemnation. At the same time all fear must be taken out, enabling him to stand in the presence of Satan without the sense of inferiority." (p.99)

Take a good look at this book's table of contents. Kenyon explores what happened to Christ before, during and after his resurrection. Especially take a look at chapter 17, "Why The Tenses Whip Us." Kenyon explains, "I know that what He says is true. I boldly take my stand, and in the face of everything that may come, I hold fast to my confession. Now you live in THE PRESENT TENSE." (P.108-109).

I love all of E. W. Kenyon's books. That's why we pay tribute to him on our website as a "Christian Superhero." And this book is one of my favorites. Dr. Kenyon really opens up the significance of what Christ did for us to make us God's own sons and daughters.

If you want to REALLY UNDERSTAND what Christ did for you, READ THIS BOOK!
