Pineapple Thief's latest CD is a marked improvement from their previous effort "Little Man" being definitely more proggy and structured with less of the gimmicky sound effects and more musical mastery involved. Opener "All you need to know" starts the ball rolling in majestic fashion. Trademark acoustic guitar with string arrangement and beautiful harmonious vocals get my approval every time. "Take me with you" is a nice follow up being an easy going moody slow number. "West Winds" is an awesome haunting instrumental track that builds into heavy intensity towards the end. It actually reminded me of something that Peter Green (Of Fleetwood Mac fame) would have written after he turned his back on the blues at the turn of the 60s . Next song "Deep Blue world" returns to that lush beautiful trademark P.T. sound (i.e. Acoustic guitar/Strings/harmony vocals). I love them so much in this form. The atmospherics are truly monumental. "What we have sown"!!!! Total progressive Rocky majesty at over 27 minutes long, with Bruce Soord expressing himself a lot more with some stunning Electric guitar work here. There is also a latter day Zeppelin influence towards the end as well. In this form, Pineapple Thief can do no wrong. Final track "Well, I think thats what you said" is a perfect song to end the album. Bruces vocals again being a strong point mixing the high and low notes with ease. Again, I found the latter day Indian Zeppelin influence in a brief moment (Keyboard arrangement). Pineapple Thief rightfully have a sound of their own, and with a new album out in May 2008 (Next month, as I write) I expect great things. I also recommend you check out the Pineapple Thief Pod Casts on ITunes. There is about an hours worth featuring some awesome unreleased stuff and rough takes of ald classics including the obligatory "Part Zero". PLUS you really get to know how humble and genuine the guys from Pineapple Thief really are. Oh , the joys of modern technology.

Simply put, What we Have Sown is one of the greatest modern day rock classics around. It sits proudly on the same shelf with Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, Radiohead's OK Computer, Porcupine Tree's Fear of a Blank Planet, and The Mars Volta's Frances the Mute. Timeless music that moves effortlessly from song to song, right down to the final track that is essentially the title track and the tune that in and of itself defines what really great modern progressive rock is all about. This album is nothing short of perfection.
