Melanie's book is a very transparent and honest work flowing from her devotion to Jesus Christ. She offers practical advice for Godly wives repeatedly directing the reader to God's Word for guidance and purpose for marriage. My experience in leading a group of 25 women in this study has been one of my best experiences in group study. We were blessed by the author's own experiences that parallelled our own which allowed us to see ourselves in the pages. The discussion questions provided for each chapter encouraged open and honest discussion all the while directing us to Scripture and challenging us to strive for holiness. Whether you are seeking restoration for a wounded marriage or just desire a closer walk with Christ, this is the book for you. Thank you, Melanie, for offering your gifts to God initiating healing through the power of His Word and the power of your honest testimony!

This book is an absolute read for those already married ladies or those engaged to be married and desiring a Godly relationship with her husband. I could not put this book down and would recommend it for all women (married or not). I desire a marriage in which I am the wife that God intended for my husband. This book will be a wonderful companion to the Word of God throughout my marriage.

Even though this book is written by a woman it gives great insight into how the things that women say to their husbands can have a good or bad effect on them. I have read many books on the woman's role in marriage, but this one gives good real life stories and suggestions and ways to begin changing your ways and ways of thinking to truly become the wife God intended you to be.

I have been married for two years. This book was given to me at my bridal shower. However, I recently picked it up to read. I believe that I could have prevented some disagreements if I had taken the opportunity to read this book earlier on. The author was candid in indicating that she had some issues with some of these suggestions. But she prayed to God for help in applying these techniques. I have not completed the book as yet. However, I plan to purchase a few of these books to distribute to women in the Married Couples Ministry at my church. I see how, as women, we can overcome many obstacles in our marriage if we are open to God's leading for our marriage. The biggest suggestion I will take from this book is to "seek first the kingdom of God, and the other things will be added.." When we focus our attention on God and what He requires from us, we spend less time focussing on other issues.

Great book!

This is the best book on the subjects covered that I've read. The author's style is clear and easy to read.

The book could just have appropriately been titled: Choosing to Live by God's Design for Wives. Choices are everywhere. Choose to accept or reject God's design and role for a wife. Choose obedience or rejection of God's Word. Choose to submit or rebel to your husband's leadership (submission). Choose to respect or disrespect your husband. Choose to love or not. Choose to be a wife or a roommate. Choose your attitude. Choose to be gracious or angry. Choose to complain or praise. Choose to cry or laugh. Choose to walk in the flesh or in the Spirit.

Choose...

The author summarizes the book well herself, "All the concepts of this book--being our husbands' helpers, loving our husbands, submitting to our husbands, respecting our husbands, choosing attitudes that build up rather than tear down our husbands--describe ways to show the world a covenant marriage. A covenant marriage always loves, always protects, and always believes [trusts] in the marriage." p. 188

The highest complement I can think of to give a book is to buy more copies for family and friends. I will do that with this book.

This is a great book for a marriage in trouble, but if your marriage is good I don't see it as a good read.

This book was a good read "for me". Many times we want to put the burden on our husbands to make our marriage better but this book pointed out that I as a wife should simply turn my marriage over to God; focus on my spiritual growth & being the type of wife that Gods wants me to be. Then ultimately I can be the wife my husband needs me to be. I also like the fact that the author pointed out her ongoing struggle of following her own advice(lol). We all know that changing can often be challenging but this author constantly reminds that God--have given us all that we need to what a husband needs from his wife.

This book has a very strong premise and I enjoyed reading it. There is good content here, presented in readable form.

I came away wanting a bit more --- something along the lines of what Elizabeth George, Lisa Frisbie, or Stormie O'Martian might say on these topics. Having said that, this book is solid and well done. It's an investment you won't regret.

Like many faith-based books, this one has a rather traditional view of roles within marriage. If you're okay with that, you can learn a lot within these pages. (And you might also consider adding Shanti Feldhahn to the list above, for other reading.)

Solid help for married women, valuable reading.
