4.0 out of 5 stars The Single You Always Wanted, November 13, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: What I Always Wanted (Audio CD)
The latest single from Kittie is "What I Always Wanted" , the first and Only single off of their second album "Oracle" . Now this single is great , but its lacking something . More unreleased tracks . Here's the tracklisting :

What I Always Wanted (Album Version)
What I Always Wanted (Live Version)
Pain (Live)
Severed (Live)
What I Always Wanted (Alt. Mix)

Now , this single was okay . If it didn't have the awesome live tracks , it would have probably gotten either a 2 or a 3 from me . Okay , Basically , the album version is taken off the album "Oracle" . Morgan Lander , Lead singer sings the angelic vocals , and the loud pounding growls , along with the lead guitar , and the second guitar (Ah , the wonders of Multitrack mixing) ... On the bass , we have the beautiful goth girl , Talena Atfield . And on the drums , we have Morgan's sister , Mercedes Lander . Now this song has to be one of the best singles of theirs and one of the best songs off of Oracle . Basically , this song has it all , bass solo , Angelic Vocals , Blood Curdling death growls .

The second track is "What I Always Wanted (Live Version)". Basically , it sounds the same as the album version because Kittie is so good . Since they're on stage and live , theres no multitrack mixer so Talena Atfield , the bassist , has to do a bit of the growls in the Chorus of the song .

The third song is "pain (live)" . What Can I say ? Its good , though its not one of my favorite songs .

Severed (live version) has got to be one of my all time favorite live songs . The bass being the lead instrument in this song . Its pretty hard . Its exactly like the album version , except theres no backing vocals . And the growls are somewhat better .

The last song , The What I Always Wanted Alt. Mix is basically just a rip off . Its just something they added to the single to take up some space . Its EXACTLY The same thing as the album version , EXACTLY same vocals , same instruments . The only difference is that they lowered the growling and the words "Bare With Me" stupidly keep repeating to try to cover up the growls (even though you can still hear the growls alot" . This mix a rip off . If you're buying this just for the mix , don't because the mix is just a retarted copy of the album version , just with lowered vocals .

I gave this CD a 4 because the live tracks were so awesome . The alt. mix SUX . Buy this CD , and check out some other material by kittie , I assure you won't be dissapointed .

4.0 out of 5 stars 'Best Single c.d. So Far", August 3, 2005
This review is from: What I Always Wanted (Audio CD)
At this point in time this was the best single produced by Kittie. It Offered the most popular and arguably the best song from "Oracle" along with some awesome live tracks and then a remixes. a must for any Kittie fan or a good, inexpensive c.d. for people who have never heard Kittie.
