5.0 out of 5 stars Mr. Brosseau, July 21, 2005
This review is from: What I Mean to Say Is Goodbye (Audio CD)
Does anyone know who this guy is? Ok, I was looking at the new John Doe album- I'm a Doe fan, and I came across Tom Brosseau. What luck. John Doe has a little note up about Tom Brosseau. I click on the link and listen to his music. I have ordered the album. I absolutely love it! What songs? The first track, " west of town " is my favorite. He sings about the 1997 flood of the great valleyland. I remember hearing about it- always wondered about it. I also like " that's when your heartaches begin " and " in my time of dying ". I recommed this album to everyone. It's a great listen all the way thru! 5 out of 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars what I mean to say is goodbye, July 7, 2005
This review is from: What I Mean to Say Is Goodbye (Audio CD)
I found this album by listening to KEXP. I have been listening to it ever since- fantastic album! Favorite songs: west of town, unfamiliar places, tonight I'm careful with you. I have told all my friends about Tom Brosseau, who I consider to be the best songwriter I have heard in recent times. I was at Loveless Records' website, found out [Brosseau] is a thro-back to Porter, George and Ira, Kerne. I am glad there are still people out there that care! 5 stars all the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars check his whole catalogue, September 8, 2006

a teller of small tales -- meaning one line can floor you and fill a book of imagery -- with a voice that will baffle you -- there are times when I listen to this and think I'm listening to my 10-year old nephew -- a singer and songwriter under his own hanging lightbulb.

I saw this guy last week in Eugene Oregon, opening for Brandi Carlile. This guy's voice sent chills through my spine and all the while I thought to myself "What I would give to sing like that". He's shy yet so funny on stage and his voice is seriously immaculate. I'm on my way to order a copy, but I could not wait to review Tom as an artist and a performer.

5.0 out of 5 stars When the dust settles..., June 8, 2005

It's hard not to let your ears gravitate toward Brosseau's voice... A voice that is so distinctly delicate, a broken falsetto that one might find on back porches in Memphis from old men that have lived the hard life. "Wandering", "Tonight I'm Careful With You", "Wear and Tear", "St. Joe St."... these are songs that transcend time and place yet remain antique and classic. When the dust settles, this will be one of the finest records of the year.
