A Novel Explanation,
By
This review is from: What If God Were the Sun? (Hardcover)
This book is a novel, and not a "One Last Time" Part 2. It is obviously semi-autobiographical, full of big family sentimentality, lots of love between generations and even a moving relationship with a dog. I think John Edward used this form to answer, as far as he is able, the questions "what does he see?," "What is the after death experience like and what is the next world like?" and "How do those who have crossed over feel and communicate?" John Edward has explained that he can't give definitive answers to these questions, but this novel does reveal what he knows. If these are questions in your mind, the novel will satisfy your curiosity.

The Sun Is Shining,

This review is from: What If God Were the Sun? (Hardcover)
"What If God Were The Sun" is an amazing novel. It is one of those books that move you from laughter to tears with a turn of the page just like the passing of days in one's life. John Edward, really out did himself with this wonderful story of family. This is a novel that anyone with a family can relate to. You will get wrapped up in characters like Grandma Rosie and come to love each and everyone one of them. You will feel like you are going through the good and the bad times with this family and enjoy the ride. I give this book 5 stars (I would give it more if allowed) it touched my heart and when it was done I longed for more. John Edward, is amazing all around from his first novel "One Last Time" to his t.v. show "Crossing Over" this novel fits right in at the top. What can I say, I am a true fan and when you give this book a chance you will become one too.

BEAUTIFUL , SENSITIVE, TOUCHING......UNFORGETTABLE.,

This review is from: What If God Were the Sun? (Hardcover)
John Edward must, indeed, possess the gentleness of a lamb, the mystical wonder of an angel and the inner personal strength of the Dalai Lama. The words found in this book will soothe your soul, warm your heart, and provide many intense thought-provoking moments. Do not let the length of the book deceive you into thinking there cannot be much here to consider. I have read books with hundreds upon hundreds of pages that say very little and are soon forgotten; there are much shorter ones that stay with you for a lifetime. "What if God were the Sun" is one of the most beautiful books ever written; one that will leave you with a silent tear as you read of one family's compassion, tragedy and ultimate love for each other throughout the generations. If we all had a John Edward beside us in time of loss, when we most need emotional healing, life's journey would be much easier, and the uncertainty of what lies beyond this world, less feared. The bridge between life and death take on new meaning in this book, one of inner peace and tranquillty. I highly recommend this book, as well as one additional book, "Don't Let Death Ruin Your Life" by author, Jill Brooke. Both deal with the same subject but in a slightly different light.

A fascinating book by an equally-fascinating author.,

Lately, I've become fascinated, if not quite addicted, to watching a late-night program called "Crossings with John Edward." John Edward is a psychic medium who claims he communicates with people who have passed from this life, and from watching his show, I'd say his claims are pretty good - but that's another story. Edward has branched out into the literary world to bring his message of validation in this life in his new novel, "What If God Were The Sun?"In his story, the central character is Timothy Callahan, a man who hails from a large Italian American family, a typical close-knit family that loves big gatherings. But above all else, the Callahans love one another. However tragedy has struck this boisterious family when Timothy's mother discovers she has cancer. As the family struggles to deal with this new phase of their lives, Timothy begins to wonder what happens after someone dies, when they cross over to the afterlife. In one instance as the family watches old home movies, he wonders to himself, "As I look over at my mom, I know that she's wondering if all these faces of yesteryear will be the faces of her tomorrows. Will she see them when she crosses over? Will her loved ones welcome her on the other side, as we all want to believe? I hope so." As his mother's struggles with her battle with cancer progresses, Timothy remembers back to his childhood when his mother explained that God was the sun, an epiphany that becomes more tangible as he wrestles with impending death. As the story comes to it's emotional and dramatic end, is it the death of Timothy's mother we've been following or someone else's journey to the afterlife? Readers will be surprised. "What If God Were The Sun?" will probably not win any big prizes for being great literature, and at some points it's hard to figure out just who the narrator is talking about, but it's overall message is relatively simple. Edward's main point is to pass along the message of letting the important people in your life know that you care for them in this lifetime. He offers a comforting message that love that can bridge even death. In his work as a psychic medium, Edward helps survivors work through the overwhelming and sometimes unbearable grief of losing a loved one. I was personally touched by this sensitive story. Whether you believe in an afterlife or not, it's kind of nice to think that the ones we love might be watching out for us after they're gone. I'd like to think my dad and aunt are watching out for me. Sharon Galligar Chance, Times Record News

A heart-warming story, unique; one of a kind,
By PD Blizzard (Bloomington, IL United States) - See all my reviews

This book makes you a participant in the story. If you're looking for a heart-warming tale that gives hope of love lasting past the death of the physical body, this is it. This book is unique, in that the story is about the endless circle of love that transcends the earthly plane. John Edward fans will recognize John himself, in the fictional main character, as he describes his family, and his feelings about how we deal with life, death, family and God. A very easy read, with interesting plot devices. I recommend this book highly, and I look forward to more fictional tales from John Edward about the nature and importance of the spirit.

Another step in healing...,
By VickiVeil "vickiveil" (Cincinnati, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: What If God Were the Sun? (Hardcover)
As I closed my completed edition of What if God Were the Sun, and started my makeshift book review with my semi-uninterested husband, his comment was "Vicki if John Edward wrote a recipe book, you would love it". After I threw him that initial look of O whatta you know anyway! I had to agree that yes, I do have a high regard for this enthusiastic lecturer and author. He earns it. His work is just what the Psychic Arts needed in my humble opinion. So here, I go with what is probably a biased review on this new book. This book touches on all of the overwhelming thoughts that sprint through your mind when the inevitable occasion of death enters your life. And I do mean ALL of the emotions! Love, devotion, past admiration and onto those feelings that we sometimes don't speak aloud about, guilty feelings of why didn't I spend more time with them, and the what about me's? How will I ever be able to move ahead? Or a feeling I had when my own mother passed... now my child will be shorted a grandmother! Timmy Callahan shares his private feelings of remorse, remembrance, and reverence on the total impact of life and death, as well as the possibility of life after death. Now is this book a quick cure for someone who has suffered the loss of someone they loved dearly? NO. Because as this book clearly points out, there is no simple treatment for losing a loved one to death. It is a healing process. Cures are quick, where as healing takes time. So many levels of the physical body and mind. Moreover, to come to a place where we can understand the loss due to death, we have to make sure we heal each of those levels. I think the nicest thing this book can provide a reader with, is almost a designed format to take you personally through the transition of all of those feelings that are present in bereavement. It does not matter who you have lost. Timmy speaks on the loss of his mother, his uncle, the grandmother, and even his dog. The ending leaves you with a dose of faith. Even for the reader that sits on the fence of uncertainty on life after death theories, I think you will find yourself recollecting events that may have occurred after the passing of someone dear to you. A similar event that subtly let us know, love does not die.

This work is amazing. You are taken on a poignant journey through Timothy Callahan's life and love. Little do you know the real gift you are given until the end, when everything comes together to surprise you and astonish you. My mother "graduated" two years ago, and I celebrated by reading this wonderful book. I laughed, I cried and I thanked God.

Absolutely Fantastic!,

I read this book in a little over 2 hours ... I simply could not put it down. Anyone who has lost someone dear to them needs to read this book. John Edward drives home the point that our lives here on Earth are temporary and we'll all be together again in the Afterlife. It's a very comforting, albeit short, novel that warms the heart and assures the reader that our departed loved ones are still with us, watching over us. Although the story itself was simple, I found myself smiling a lot while reading it. Many of the instances proving life-after-death rang true to me, i.e., feeling a tap on the shoulder soon after the death of a loved one. That happened to my sister-in-law about 5 mins. after my father-in-law died in his hospital bed. I ordered this book for my best friend who recently lost her husband. She's not a "believer" in psychics, but I'm confident she'll enjoy this book since it's a novel and not the typical "psychic reading" book. John Edward is the best! So, buy this book for a quick, warm & fuzzy read!

I have had several family members (this also meaning pets) pass on recently, and found it very difficult to move on without them. This book helped me realize that death is not the end. It is the beginning! When friends of mine have loved ones pass on, I purchase this book to give to them, so that they too may realize how much our loved ones spirits are with us. I thank John Edwards for sharing his gift with all of us!

I bought this book for my wife and ended up reading it myself. I did not know much about this author, but the name of the book caught my attention and I am glad I read it. Its a very simple book on very tough questions you might ask yourself everyday. Its a book that everyone should read since it leaves you feeling positive not only about life, but death as well.
