5.0 out of 5 stars Great Swedish Group
The Sahara Hotnights are back with a must better album than previously and confirm all expectations. While they have chosen a much more polished approach than compared to their previous efforts, they have lost none of their rocking punh. Indeed the album is much better produced than even the last album. First song Visit to Vienna is simply splendid. This is a typical...

1.0 out of 5 stars Where's the Heart
This album was a colossal let down for me. First let me say I am a big Sahara Hotnights Fan I love every single song on all 3 of their previous releases. This album however is so bland and unoriginal, They used to have a good mix of rock and pop and a sound all their own. But on this album it sounds like an overly poppy set of B-sides some of them are catchy but none of...

This is a typical pop-rock song with distinct 60's feel as well as a rumbling bass. The girl choruses are great. then the single cheek to cheek is really neat as well. While the album has lost some of the punky touch that made them great, it is certainly not less great than previously. It sounds like the work of a more professional group overall but which is still inspired. Their playing has really improved and they rea one of the best rock bands at the moment. Compered to previous efforts it has a slightly more pronounced feminine touch which is not bad at all despite the fact that the SH are one of the few female bands that does not fall prey to the cliches of the genre. I had to order mine directly from Bengan's in Gotheburg since the imports on Amazon. com or . co.uk were really expensive. Anyway it came very fast from that source as usual (plus it is from Sweden itself!) Also, the girls lok really great on the cover, so who can want anything more?

This album however is so bland and unoriginal, They used to have a good mix of rock and pop and a sound all their own. But on this album it sounds like an overly poppy set of B-sides some of them are catchy but none of them are very distinguishable from songs that came out 10 years ago. I am still a big fan of their old stuff and I will still buy their next album, every band tries a new sound out eventually but this new sound is lacking heart and, for lack of a better word balls.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, October 25, 2009
This review is from: What If Leaving Is a Loving Thing (Audio CD)
Best album I have heard in a couple years. I like Hotnights before this album. If youre looking for a continuation of jenniebomb and kiss and tell, this is not it. but that doesnt mean it isnt amazing. maria has some great lyrics and the bands music is an 11. this was one of the few albums i have ever owned that i absolutly fell in love with the first time I heard it... yet didnt burn away. Great Staying power. (example: the other album that did this was The Clash's London Calling) I just wish i would have caught this album sooner and seen that tour!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Swedish Band Since The Sounds, November 26, 2008
This review is from: What If Leaving Is a Loving Thing (Audio CD)
Yes, I know Sahara Hotnights was out before The Sounds but I didn't hear about them until recently. They have an edge of not a typical girl band. They're songs take you back with an oldies feel. Great album!

I LOVE this band. I saw a previous bad review and thought the author was a hard rock snob. I like good pop music as much as I like good rock. SH's previous were smart, funny and rocking. Everyone who I shared the group with liked them, even the hard rock and metal crowd.
The new CD commits the worst crime of all... it is the most boring CD I now own. Were they going for an American audience? (bland, homogenized stuff they play on the radio here). I really tried to like this. I like ABBA, the GO-GOs and many other good pop bands, but this is nowhere near that standard.
At times it reminds me of mediocre Shania Twain... then it just gets .. embarrasing. I'm pretty sure Miley Cyrus outrocks this.
I rarely rate stuff, but at $20+ this is pricey. Buy their first 3 CDs or look futher, there's alot of excellent music out there if you spend the time looking.
Please girls, go listen to the Kills, Sleater-Kinney or some old punk stuff (try Tristan Prettyman if you are looking for a new direction) and get your fun back before the next CD.
...Still love the band and will be looking for next release.
