This album by Anthony Hamilton standards is not good at all when you weigh it against his previous work. The beauty of AH was ability to take an average subject (love, pain etc.) and provide a soulfulness that was apparent in the records - almost as if he believed truly in every word and note he sang and made the listener feel the same way. His albums and songs typically contained a thematic element that made sense and "What I'm Feelin" lacks that. Additionally, the soulfulness of his voice is lost with a lack of quality song writing. Sad to say, but perhaps his divorce took a lot out of him and save for a couple of songs ("Walk in My Shoes" is the best track on the album), it's apparent he should've waited to record.

This is a good album. By today's standards in music it seems like all we are going to get from most artist is average music nothing great. So far this album keeps my attention. Maybe as I continue to listen it'll get better. I feel like he could've done better. Overall, this is just a good album. I didn't feel like I wasted my money.

North Carolina native Anthony Hamilton was an exceptionally talented vocalist, but he was a marketing nightmare. During his short stint at Uptown Records, he was faced with the dreaded dilemma of image branding. For starters, he was an early twenties R&B singer whose voice was rather mature (Which is ironic, given that Uptown worked with the voice of then-labelmate, K-Ci Hailey of Jodeci). Another issue was that during the baggy clothes and baseball caps era of the mid-to-late 90's, Hamilton often dressed in his now-trademark black T-shirt, hunting boots and trucker hat. He left the label for Atlantic Records, who also dealt with the same issue and from that point on, he decided back away from major labels. While out performing, a chance encounter with Jermaine Dupri led him to being signed to So So Def Recordings, where he would release his breakthrough effort "Comin' From Where I'm From". As So So Def broke distribution with Arista, Hamilton stayed behind recording with Jive until its folding which led him to becoming an artist on the RCA Records roster. Throughout the years, Anthony has hinted at doing a possible country album, but has now decided to take it there with his 2016 album "What I'm Feelin'". Although this may sound like a first for Hamilton, he hasn't exactly hidden his love for country music - or Southern soul, for that matter. When he was not channeling the sounds of Memphis labels Stax and Hi Records, he has made numerous nods to country. On his debut, he worked in a Kenny Rogers song on "Lucille", appeared on an album by country singer Josh Turner and even has Vince Gill appearing on his new album.Read more ›

This one is barely ok in comparison to his past albums. I was quite disappointed. Anthony Hamilton is an awesome artist but imo this is not his best work. This album probably deserves 2 1/2 stars at best. Hopefully the next one gets back to what I'm used to. I honestly feel that I wouldn't have purchased it if I had sampled it first. This is my honest opinion.

I've been waiting on some good R&B and it was worth it! I love the cd. For me it's good soul feeding music. He talks about love, life and even a little love making.
