Book Description

Amelia Lamont never asked to unleash her inner vampire.

Amelia’s normal teen world is shattered when a terrifying nightmare awakens the monster inside her. A newfound, insatiable thirst for blood that leads her to drain the school quarterback is only the beginning; she’s horrified to discover that her family and best friend Kendrick have been harboring the secret all along. And is the strangely alluring boy who seems hell-bent on curbing her murderous, blood-filled desires a friend, or foe?

To escape detection Amelia and her twin brother Dorian are forced to move to a new town, and the challenge of a new, exclusive high school where nearly every classmate smells like prey. Including the irresistible Ty, who seems hauntingly familiar, yet darkly menacing …

Amelia’s disturbing dreams and entanglement in a web of forbidden romance render her increasingly powerless against the chilling lies and secrets of vampire power struggles. And, as she soon discovers, vampire politics mixed with outlawed love can be a lethal cocktail.

Falling in love may just cost Amelia everything: her friends, her family...even her life.

Move over Twilight, True Blood and Underworld! J.L. Myers’ first book in the Blood Bound series will have you swooning for more!

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars isn't enough September 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am a big fan of paranormal romance novels and this one tops my list of favs. My 57 year old eyes are blurry from getting to the end because i just couldn't put it down. For a first book I have to give 5 thumbs up to this author, she managed to keep my heart racing through this whole book. I have to admit i am one of those readers that lose interest if a book doesn't grab me from the start, well obviously this one did, it's romance, mystery and suspence all rolled up into a book that keeps you turning pages. I just hope the next book in the series comes soon, I just have to know what happens next.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! August 21, 2013
By Lisa
Format:Kindle Edition
I loved this book! For a first book, it had all the necessary requirements - romance, strong characters, and a great storyline!
The heroine is strong but sometimes whiny (which is maturity related) and the heroes (so many to choose from) just saying WOW! I couldn't decide if I was rooting for a vamp or a wolf... It definitely kept me in emotional turmoil and there is definitely that story twist you don't expect and the cliffhanger ending... A great paranormal read! Can't wait til the next one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping love story between Vamp & Wolf July 13, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm not normally a reader but I was so gripped to this book I truly had troubles putting it down.

To me it started out alot like Twilight but realised quickly that the more and more I read it's started on its own journey.

For me Amelia is truly what made this book so good to read, although Dorian her brother also makes it extremely interesting. The book starts within a dream. Amelia awakes and starts to realise she isn't as normal as she thought. A very shy type who keeps to herself really blossoms through out book and by the end she realises she's stronger then she once thought.

Kendrick the childhood best friend guides her through her journey although along the way meets and extremely hot werewolf named Ty and like any great love story they have to fight to stay together against their families and friends.

Any one who loves Twilight, Underworld, True Blood or Vampire Diaries anything " Vamps & Werewolf " is going to love this book.

I'm really looking forward to reading the next book and getting all my un answered question.

Good job for your first book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An awesome read!! October 23, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was skeptical if this at first, but this book hooked me. I read it in one sitting and anticipate the next book! It has strong characters, an intriguing and compelling story, passion, suspense, turmoil and everything else you look for in a book. The author did an excellent job in bringing the characters to life. She made it so easy to relate to them all and to feel the emotions pouring off the page out of the hearts of each character. The story line wa also well developed and suspenseful. I am usually able to figure the book out completely before half way through, but this one had just enough twists and turns to make it a compelling read. This book is a must read for any young adult and adult!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!!! Absolutely loved it!!! September 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Absolutely an amazing read! I really enjoyed this story. It is really well written and has a lot of twists and turns that keep the reader guessing on what's going to happen next and what everything means. I loved the characters. Amelia is awesome and I loved her from the start. Ty, the main love interest, is great too. I loved them together. I also love Kendrick, which to be honest made it a little hard because of his feelings for Amelia. I was a little torn because I enjoyed all of their characters soo much. There is a ton of action in this story and plenty of intrigue. I really enjoyed figuring out what was going on. Some people might feel that there are quite a few similarities to twilight but I didn't really feel that way. It is written differently and things are definitely different, though vampires and werewolves still don't like each other lol. This was definitely worth the read and I can't wait for the next one in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing and unpredictable tale ... August 28, 2013
By BecStar
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
"What lies inside," weaves an intricate story entailing the life of a teen and the simultaneous awakening of physical and supernatural demeanors alongside the complications of love which is apparent in a form unlike first appearances. Amelia's maturity develops throughout the novel as unanticipated milestones are reached; sometimes unexpectably Twists and turns are abundant as is a varied and descriptive vocabulary. The attention to detail is present especially musically which is an interesting way to add dimension to a story. I re-read the story within weeks to make sure I captured all of the subtle plotlines and context that was evidently and carefully placed there by the author.
Only one minor detractor was observed: at times during the text, fluency of sentances was not always optimum and could disrupt or distract from the all-important plot and journey of the character. This said, individual reading styles may account for this.
As a reader not usually drawn to this genre type, I was enraptured right until the very end of the story and can only imagine how the next installment will progress. I eagerly await book 2.
Highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Romeo and Juliet meet Twilight. February 16, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This was Romeo and Juliet meet Twilight. I liked the idea of finding out you are a vampire via a dream. This book also drew me in by making Amelia the only one in her family that did not know their heritage. As a non-popular student I can understand why attacked the most popular boy, the football player. Then when she moved, and met Ty, I was so happy for her. However all is not what it seems. Ty is not human. I did not like the cliffhanger. However the character development in this book was great and Amelia definitely was not the same shy person. I am giving this book a 3/5. I was given a copy to review form OrangeBerry Book Tours, however all opinions are my own.

The main character tends to be a drama queen. But being a teen character, I can understand that. The plot seemed contrived and adapted from similar plots. Read more

More About the Author

Jessica L Myers was born to Dutch parents in Melbourne, Australia, and as a toddler travelled with her parents to many parts of Europe.

As a child Jessica's vivid imagination and quiet demeanor led her to the imaginary worlds of books. Even at a young age her love for the supernatural was prevalent, with her first loved books being R.L. Stine's Goosebumps series. Following that she took an interest in other non-fantasy fiction, including Virginia C. Andrew's series Flowers in the Attic.

In her teen years Jessica spent many private school hours writing poetry and dark short stories, and took up sketching some of the terrifying things that came from the graphic nightmares she'd grown up with.

As an adult and after meeting the love of her life, Jessica moved to Brisbane, Australia, got married and started a small construction business with her husband. With the birth of her son, Jessica suffered PPD and found escape in her books and their fantasy landscapes. It was in this time that her need to write flourished. In 2009 the decision was made and the first words to her YA novel What Lies Inside were written.

When she's not writing, Jessica balances being a stay-at-home mum with her families business needs while making time to get to the gym and take family vacations.
