nor show...Its one of the many formations that TOP has presented over quite a few decades, and i can honestly say thats part of the magic that make them one of America's most exciting Funkiest, Tightest Masters of their Style...I LOVED this performance..Albeit it may not be perfect, but who cares?? Its One very Hot performance with lots of jams, and dead on
TOP music...To answer the one reviewer's questions on why TOP or other acts put out so few dvds is simply this: Most people burn them reducing the profit margin that's supposed to go back to the musicians and producers of the performances..Same with cds...Bands like TOP make their money touring and doing session work...But what a sweet ride this one is.
If you are a True TOP of fan, its well worth the ride for 2hrs..!!
Ok that said I can't imagine this was released with the band's approval. It looks and sounds like someone burned this to DVD from an old VHS copy.
The playlist on the DVD case is SO far from being right it's pathetic. It's not even close to being in the correct order and doesn't include at least 3 songs. Not only that, the typos and misspellings of some tunes' titles is horrible. Hey whoever put this together...it's Soul VACCINATION not Soul Vacation...seriously???
And then the band photos on the cover don't depict the lineup at the time of filming. They are from a decade or more before.
That said....it's an ok addition to hard core TOP fans' collections. You get to see TOP before they peaked a year or so later when Tom Bowes, Lee Thornburg and Russ McKinnon joined.
The video and sound are ok considering the source material...at least as ok as it will get before someone with real skills gets their hands on this. I have no idea who actually owns the rights to this but if I were TOP I'd be wicked pissed at the poor quality of this release. I just hope they're collecting some residuals or something from this. Otherwise IMHO it's a rip-off.

This is so bad, just symbolic of their bottom - the opposite of the 40th anniversary DVD - where they are healthy and cookin'.Published on December 13, 2013 by Jones
Great to see the 'boys' when they were younger, we love this band and the DVD was a terrific gift for my wife!Published on January 17, 2013 by Donnie
Twentyfive years ago I was at this concert. Now to be able to own it is very satisfying. So nice to find it, click and have it come to my mailbox. Read morePublished on November 18, 2012 by Scott Ingersoll
I wasn't sure what era this dvd would be from but was pleasantly surprised when I first watched it. This is a great concert from the 70's back in the Tower's heyday. Read morePublished on September 18, 2010 by J. Ford
I was really looking forward to this because I saw Tower of Power live once in an LA club and they were great. I can't watch this, though, because the audio is so bad. Read morePublished on August 9, 2010 by James Robinson
Tower of Power have been around for 40 years now! They've got close to 15 albums but there are very few studio quality DVDs of them. This one is really very good! Read morePublished on May 21, 2010 by Funkster
