Most people are way to harsh with this album, sure is not as powerful as the previous but, co'mon Deliverance released two gems in a row, few bands ever do that. Even when they themselves have said that it was "rushed" is still very good. Many dont like the 5 second "songs" and the references to food and cooking but is just the band been silly and goofy. Other have done it before, i remember an album called Bedtime for Democracy by Dead Kennedys I heard eons ago, it had like 30 tracks and most were just scraps of noise, drumming and the band making jokes mixed with punk rock.

This released contains the original album completely remastered, i have a 20 year old tape, I can tell you the sounds is way better.To close it up, if you like Deliverance get it, is a worthy successor to their previous albums.

This is by far my favorite Deliverance disc.I like the odd song bits they throw in.This is a very bold CD as far as the message,challenging the non Christian worldview head on with no mercy,basically calling it "the joke".This is very aggressive thrash musically ,and the vocals are the heaviest of any of their CDs.The band changed their sound a lot after this one,so this the last we get of this approach.Some people think this CD is too Quirky at times (with the little short silly tunes),but I think it breaks up the seriousness of some of the songs nicely.I miss how fun the Christian thrash scene was in the late 80's early 90's.Vengence Rising,Tourniquet,Believer and Deliverance were all a blast at the time. I think every thrash fan should own this one.

I have to defend this album because absolutely no one got the joke. This album was made to be intentionally off the wall and eccentric while maintaining solid music and intense lyrics the band was known for. People that take everything literally to heart and have no sense of humor have and will ridicule this album unrelentingly. The title is What A Joke yet people aren't bright enough to get it. The humor at points is clever and thought provoking while the actual songs are very good. This was Big D's heaviest and fastest album by far, they go balls to the wall with this one. Prophet of Idiocy is a thrash holocaust. I bought this album when I was 12, I loved the heaviness and was smart enough to understand the humor. Anyone who is anti-Christian will definitely be infuriated when hearing this album for it's boldness and goofiness. This album is worth checking out if you are a fan of fast chunky thrash, you will not hear albums like this anymore. Municipal Waste and Warbringer don't have 1/10 of the quality this band had, What A Joke......

I have always been a fan of Deliverance since originally hearing them. But not many of their albums are very memorable to me. Not to say they arent good, just never really posessed me to go out and buy any of them. Though there is one fine piece of muscianship in their discrography that being "What a Joke". This album is considered a joke in itself from a lot of critics, but to me that is what has so much novelty and appeal to me about it. The lyrical approach is basically a counter against the joke's that have been brought up about Christianity. I love music where the band don't take themselves too serious and can go out and have fun with it, and still maintane their core sound. This is definitely in sound thrash, with still some speed metal elements that Deliverance are originally known for. With great tracks like "prophet of idiocy" (in the min is treaaaaa!), of course the title track being the maincourse of the album and guest vocal work from ex-vengeance rising lead man Roger Martinez in "It's the Beat" which is very aggersive, a shame it's such a short track. What I do not like about this album is all of the useless filler, I think the band might of been into cooking at the time. Because of all the tracks related to food. All and all this is a nice effort and for some reason or another has been the most memorable Deliverance disc in my collection.

This is such a great goofy funny cd! I can't explain it any better. They have about 5 or 6 3 to 9 second songs that make no sense at all. The musical change on a few of the songs absolutly is great. If you like Christmas songs too, you wont be disappointed, A heavy metal version of silent night is the key. The guitar solo is amazing in it. Get this cd!

Since always I am fan of Deliverance, their sound and their lyrics are simply amazing.
