Review

Praise for What Katie Ate

“When I first saw Katie Quinn Davies’s work, I nearly fell off my chair because I had never seen photos so staggeringly gorgeous, delightfully gritty, and full of things you want to immediately cook. She’s a constant source of inspiration. This book belongs in your kitchen with you.”
—Deb Perelman, author of The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook

“Beautifully designed and photographed.”—Michael Ruhlman

“The foodie/photographer pairing in the blog world is a common one, but no one does it better than Katie Quinn Davies.”—Goop

“Naturally lit images of food that seem tactile, real, and honest.”—Martha Stewart Living

“It’s simply to die for.”—Babble.com

“Mini beef-and-bacon Aussie meat pies, with a shortbread crust, rescue a maligned working-class foodstuff from the larder of cliché; easy chocolate cake is indeed easy (even for a non-baker like me), and moist, and very tasty.”—Coleman Andrew ~ The Wall Street Journal

"Katie's recipes ooze comfort and style. Just like in her popular blog, I lose myself in travel stories, her vintage sensibility, and beautifully styled food -- always coming back for more. And I believe you will too. Gorgeous all around." —Aran Goyoaga, author of Small Plates and Sweet Treats. My Family's Journey to Gluten-Free Cooking

I do not usually take the time to write reviews...but oh my goodness!!!! This is the most amazing book, beautiful from cover to cover...I bought it to give as a gift to my adult daughter, Katie... But for Pete's sake....yes, she still gets her gift, but I just ordered 4 more. One for me, and 3 for gifts! It has everything, great food, amazing party pictures, everything...even a 51 year old (me) could absolutley love. My gifts are all for the under 35 crowd.

I like the format of this book, makes it interesting. The pictures and writing great.
I have had success with the salads, Faro with Feta, Lemon & Pine Nuts & prosciutto, fig and grilled peach, very good flavours and textures. Lamb Shank pie good, but the roast pork with cider and maple syrup sauce very disappointing because although the pork and stuffing very good the sauce liquid all burnt quickly in the oven, smoked out the kitchen and ruined my roasting pan plus there was no sauce!! I am sure that should have been tested and a different plan written up. If I made this recipe again I would sit the pork in the liquid I think and maybe even cover the pork? There are many more recipes I still feel encouraged to try.

I have read Katie's blog for a while now. When she released her 1st cookbook I thought it's the most beautiful cookbook ever! How wrong I was! this one is so much better! Adore her photography/styling and the recipes are fantastic! So easy to follow and everything I made was a hit!

I am really enjoying the recipes from this cookbook! It's rare that you find a cookbook that not only has beautiful photography, terrific writing content, and simple clean and delicious recipes! Katie Quinn Davies did it all in this book. I stumbled on it by chance while shopping in Anthropologie (they have some fabulous books there). I am an experience home chef, but the recipes are easy for anyone to follow. Tonight, I made her Self-Saucing Mocha Pudding (served with french vanilla ice cream) for dessert and it was heavenly. I've also made her roasted chicken and several other recipes... all are winners! This is an excellent book for anyone who desires well written healthy recipes with tremendous flavors that could easily be served for dinner guests!
Thank you Katie!
