This review is from: What Kind of Love? The Diary of a Pregnant Teenager (Paperback)
It's a great book to read for a teenager. It teaches you to about the consequences of not using protection. I guess that the book caught my attention because I wondered what would happen if I were in that position. The author's writing style makes you want to keep reading the book and look for more of her books. I give it five starts because it was interesting, exciting and kind of sad.

A diary of a pregnant girl who thinks she's in love,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: What Kind of Love? The Diary of a Pregnant Teenager (Paperback)
What Kind of Love?, written by Sheila Cole, is a diary about two people in love with each other. Valerie falls in love with Peter, and she thinks Peter loves her too. Then Valerie notices that she has not had her period for three months so she decides to try a home pragnancy tester. Valerie, fifteen,is now well aware that she is pragnant. Peter purposes and they together try to get married. Both of their parents think it is an outragous idea. Peter's parents forced him to go to Los Angeles to graduate. Will Valerie get married and give birth to a baby at age fifteen? How will their strict parents take the idea of them getting married and having a baby? Well, I guess you will just have to read the book to find out what happens! I loved reading this book because it had a page or two of entries. It was nice cause you would be less likely to stop in the middle of a chapter, when with this book, you wouldn't have that much more to read. I thought it was a nice change. I hope I gave you enough motvation to read this terrific book. The reason why I gave it 4 stars is because I didn't like the ending. Although, that is just my opinion, you might love the ending. Thank you for spending your time reading my review!~Marissa's BMS Literary Corner~

What Kind Of Love?,
This review is from: What Kind of Love? (Hardcover)
What kind of Love was a story based on a teenage pregnancy, and the responsibilities she would have to face. In this book the main characters were Valerie, her boyfriend Peter, and her best friend Carrie. Peter and Valerie were together for six months when she found out she was pregnant. They were scared to tell their parents because they were still kid them selves. They had no choice but to tell them. When Valerie tells her parents, they reply by telling her she has to have an abortion. When Peter tells his mom she states she is going to send him away to live with his father so he won't see Valerie or the baby.
According to my life, I can relate to Valerie's best friend Carrie. She is always giving Valerie good advice like I did when my aunt was pregnant. Carrie and I tell them, "It's not worth keeping the baby if the father left and you have no way to support the baby, unless if you get help." They wouldn't listen though. They think the father of the baby is going to come back for them. If the baby's father really liked you and was capable of being there for his child he would have never left. Valerie's boy friend Peter left without her knowing, but wrote to her when he got to his father's house in Chicago. I really enjoyed this book a whole lot. One of my favorite parts was when Peter had left because when she found out she paid it no mind. She didn't care because she thought Peter was coming back and that they were going to move in together. She also thought they were going to get married. I think it was really silly because you really can't get married without parental consent. My least favorite part was when Valerie actually found out Peter was playing games with her mind, he wasn't going to come back and she decided she was going to have the baby but put it up for adoption. I thought that was really depressing and emotional. It is hard to make decisions in a situation like this because you don't know if it would lead you the right or wrong way. If you are a teenager who thinks they're in love and want to have a baby I recommend this book to you. This book makes you think twice. When you say you love someone you may think you do but it can be a lie. Like Valerie stated in the book "When you love someone you want to make them happy, but it takes two to do it." When you get with a guy get to know that person real well because that guy may only want one thing from a girl, get you pregnant then leave you like a bump on a log. Then you would realize it was a mistake. A mistake that will change your life forever and wouldn't be able to erase it ever again.

I can relate to many of the things that Valerie goes through. I would like to have read a sequel to this book, because I'd like to know how Valerie lives with knowing what she did. Once I picked this book up I could not put it down. My best friend saw me reading this book and she borrowed it from the library as soon as I finished reading and she, too, could not put it down. I would recommend this book to any young teenager because the story revolves around a young teenager. I think this book is the best book I have read in a long time.

This book was great!! It really told the truth about the things you could go through if you were pregnant. And if it was not enough money to go around in your family for you and your future child. It tells you the problems that Val went through with her boyfriend and how in the end he really didn't want anything to do with her and her baby. Because he had a full life ahead of himself. In the end how it came to a big decision that Val had to make on her own. This was a very true book about what most pregnant girls go through everyday in there life.I think every girl should read this if they are thinking of getting pregnant and make sure that there boyfriend will be there for them in along run.

A Kid's Review

I did not have to read this book for it to capture my interest.I am a young teenager and once I saw this book I knew I'd love it. These are the types of book that capture many young teenagers minds. We are very curious to know what happens in situations like these. I enjoyed this book very much because it shows us what the consequences are in this certain situation, although this is what happens to a percentage of young mothers their are other outcomes I would recommend this book not only to teenagers but to parents as well, if anything like this happens to there children they'll know how to deal with it.

I think Cole did a good job of role playing into her character but, the story could have been sooo much more and soo better if a little more effort was applied. I personaly really liked it and will recomend it because the voice of Valerie is so real and the pain is real too. I just really wish that cole would have expanded more and made a more bookish novel then leaving it at a diary I think it would have had much more of an impact and meaning. I especially liked the fact that the story took place in my hometown. I really also wish that there were more books out there addressing this subject.
