Relive the last six decades of Florida State football through the eyes of some of its most famous alumni and follow the Seminoles' fascinating rise to national prominence.
While most members of Seminole Nation are familiar with Chief Osceola, the thunderous war chief, and the team's recent winning tradition, how many fans know that Florida State adopted the name Seminoles and fielded their first team in 1947--the same year they opened the previously all-female school to male enrollment?
In the last six decades, Florida State football has grown from a small college program to a perennial power, with much of the change coming under the guidance of its consummate caretaker--Bobby Bowden.
Bobby is Florida State football. Tireless. Dedicated. Fatherly. He is both hard and soft, brilliant but folksy, but above all, a Seminole through and through. "He had the ability to make an average player play like a good player, and the ability to make a good player play like a great player," said Rick Stockstill, who was part of Bowden's first full recruiting class and who quarterbacked breakthrough FSU teams from 1977-81.
After reliving some classic old-school memories of Florida State football, fans can follow the Seminole's charge to national prominence soon after Bowden's arrival in 1976--all through the eyes of some of his most notable players--and see how his remarkable knack for winning may be surpassed only by his positive influence on each of his players.
