5.0 out of 5 stars United By Books Review by Lindsey Hutchison March 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Matt, Chris, and Aiden are back and settling into houses of their own for their growing families. Chris and Aiden are taking care of the twin's father, though Chris still has a hard time with what was done to him. Meghan moved in with Chris and Aiden to be more comfortable while carrying their babies. Soon Aiden gets hurt and has to rest and cant dance till he is healed, but that comes at the worst time as he took on a special class. Sarah, the nurse to the twin's father, has something against Chris and Aidens relationship, but is starting to like Matt. Then tragedy strikes for Chris and Aiden while Meghan is carrying the babies.Matt let go of his drinking and player ways once he fell for Carley, but now has another the beginnings of another addiction. Matt's girlfriend Carley, notices that Matt isn't acting quite himself so she starts thinking the worst in her hormonal, bed-ridden, pregnancy state. So much so that the increase in her lack of trust may end up hurting their relationship.

Oh Liz you did it again. The first book I was hesitant about, then couldn't get enough and wanted to jump right into the next. Then I start the second book and I was drawn in again. Liz Borino has evolved her characters more in this book. You went everywhere in this book with emotions. You felt the tender love between Chris and Aiden.I Sympathized with Carley but there were times when her over reactions got on my nerves. Matt has a bit of a bad rap since his last secret drinking problem is known which makes him feel ganged up on. I teared up when the incident with Meghan happened .And by the end I was at the edge of my seat clicking to get to the next page, holding my breath in hope, frustration, and by the end, ultimately joy. I for one can't wait for book three to see where Liz takes us all on our next journey into the boys lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Sequel..... November 20, 2011
By sioux_b
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
In this, the follow on to "Expectations", Liz Borino continues the saga that is the lives of twins, Chris and Matt Taylor, and Chris's husband Aiden.

Once again, this talented writer has created a storyline which is packed with emotion, raw honesty and heartache. All our favourite main and secondary characters return and are immediately thrown into the unpredictability of life and the circumstances which are thrown at them. This story contains everything from birth to death and laughter to extreme sorrow.

This is not a typical romance and I thank you for this Liz Borino! There is plenty of conflict, passion and humour as the life situations which this family are dealt indeed prove that no amount of money can buy love. As with "Expectations" I found this to be a great read and am left wanting more. Really looking forward to book no: 3 so please do not leave us waiting too long Ms. Borino!

Have been anticipating this much awaited sequel and I certainly was not disappointed. Liz has done a masterful job in further developing these characters with some interesting plot turns. I loved Expectations and I am equally delighted with What Money Can't Buy. Should definitely be part of your summer reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Sequel! May 18, 2011
By Misty
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
What Money Can't Buy is the sequel to Expectations. Chris and Aiden and Matt and Carley are eagerly anticipating parenthood! However, their personal struggles continue. Chris continues to cope with what happened with his father and Matt, who overcame one dependency, finds himself facing new temptations. Add that on to the fact that Carley was ordered to rest for the rest of her pregnancy and this puts a greater strain on their relationship. When it all comes to a head, the best and worst in everyone is revealed. Will they stick it out, or will their reactions lead to disaster?

I believe that this book can be a stand alone novel. You can very well read it without reading Expectations. I don't see why you would want to as Liz tells a memorable story that leaves you thinking about it long after you reach the last page. That continues on with What Money Can't Buy. It's a little darker than Expectations but it has the familiar feel of returning to a bunch of old friends if you have read Expectations first. If not, I think you will still forge the same connections with the characters except maybe Carley. I also think it'll make you want to read the first book anyway. Liz Borino is definitely a master at spinning a dramatic story where the reader cares about what happens to the characters. There are times where she's talked to me about killing one of them off and I'm like NO! I delightfully devoured this book and look forward to the third!

Thanks to Liz Borino for the review copy. It in no way influenced my review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic continuation of Expectations May 17, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This sequel to Expectations is a chronological following of Chris and Aiden (and Aiden's sister who is carrying thier twins)as well as Matt and Carley. Both couples are awaiting the birth of their children, as well as Matt and Chris providing care for their father who, at one time was overbearing and abusive.

On the road to parenthood, Chris and Aiden display the depths of their love and commitment to each other when they deal with tragedy, injuries, and emotional upheavals that only the strength of their relationship carries them thru to find their inner strengths. Their understanding of each other, communication, and love, carry their relationship to new levels from the first novel in this series.

Matt and Carly are also on the road to becoming a family and they suffer their struggles as well. Matt with his addictions and Carley with her trust in Matt. Can Matt find the strength to beat his inner demons and be there when Carley needs him?

The maturation of the author is evident in the second book of Liz Borino's Expectations and it is easy to fall into the psyche's of the characters found in her novels. These are not typical romance novels, but a journey into the life of committed couples and their struggles to solidify their relationships and become family.

This novel is a great snuggle up read that I enjoyed immensely, bringing tears, laughter, and wonder to my eyes.
