Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 1-3-This second update of a 1963 title (Crowell; o.p.) is clearly written and useful. Compared to the 1986 edition (HarperCollins), it has just one textual change: the mention of the discovery of potentially potable water beneath the surface of the moon. Visual differences include a cleaner font, a brighter cover, and watercolor-and-photographic illustrations. Three interesting activities are appended, including making a moon crater with flour, cocoa powder, and a marble.

4.0 out of 5 stars Travel to the Moon, February 23, 2001
By A Customer
What child does not want to be an astronaut when they grow up? Traveling in space, walking on the moon: How amazing! This book allows children to explore their curiosity and excitement about the moon. It is well illustrated and the narration is interesting and keeps their attention. They are learning, yet it is fun. It is unique because the story is supplemented with short teaching times referring the child to the pictures on the page. (Even I learned a few things about the moon.) My son has always wanted to ride in a space ship... Now he wants to live on the moon! "It is so cool," he said. I highly recomend this book.

I bought this for my preschool student. He loved it. The illustrations were great and the information was simply stated. The text was presented in a visually appealing manner with additional text boxes for additional information. We read it often.
