What is Mr. Winkle? 2007 Calendar

Mr. Winkle is a VAD (very amazing doggie). His owner (who is also the photographer), Laura Jo Reagan, found him tossed on the side of the highway in the middle of the night. He had lots of injuries--including some nasty head injuries--and it took her over a year of TLC and trips to the vet to nurse him back to health. On top of the injuries he had "deformities." He has a tongue that permanently sticks out (a genetic defect that cats and dogs can have) and the weirdest little ears (due to the accident and some poor genetics). Reagan's (now ex) boyfriend thought he was a demon.

However, after getting TLC from his new owner, Mr. Winkle transformed from an injured stray into an adorable little ragamuffin, and Reagan captures the "beauty" she sees in Mr. Winkle (and her love for him) in her photography. The money earned by his products goes to shelters to help homeless pets. His calendars and books brighten our day while gently pushing the message to adopt a pet and not to breed. Likewise, Reagan refuses to say talk about what breed Mr. Winkle could as she doesn't want people trying to breed more dogs. I think he's part pomeranian (pomeranians naturally love to pose for the camera)...but then again, I am a pomeranian owner so I'm biased. ;) Perhaps we all can see our beloved pets in this little charmer's face--even cats. :)

Mr. Winkle has been around for a number of years. I hope he lives out his golden years happy and spoiled rotten. He will always live on in our hearts.

I purchased two of these calendars as gifts for small dog loving friends. They both thought it was a hoot.
I first met Mr. Winkle on the cooking show, The Surreal Gourmet, and found his calendar, in stock,for a very good price at Amazon and it was shipped in time for the holidays.
The calendar author, who is Mr. Winkle's owner, also uses some of her proceeds to help animal causes.

Having read the story of Mr. Winkle sveral years ago, we always purchase his calendar. His wardrobe and spirit will brighten anyone's day! We hope to continue to see him for many more years!

A great calendar. Looking at Mr. Winkle makes you smile, and starts the day right! The photos are imaginative and well done. A must have for animal lovers, and folks looking for something different.
