4.0 out of 5 stars Not always good, clean fun!
What are your dogs, cats, bunnies and hamsters up to after you walk out the door every day? Well, at last the truth can be revealed by Jason Bergund and Bev West, in their tell-all expose filled with candid photos of pets drinking your liquor, watching cable (pay-per-view?), luxuriating on your bed, in the pool, smoking and other surprising activities.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not funny.
For anyone who loves cute and funny animal pictures and has internet access, this book is NOT for you.

About 90% of the pictures in this book are available online in many, many, many funny picture sites. Honestly, that would have been fine, if the captions had been truly funny enough to make up for it. But they aren't.

And the worst part of all...

This is a must for pet lovers who have probably suspected all along that their animal companions are really people.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not funny., January 27, 2011
For anyone who loves cute and funny animal pictures and has internet access, this book is NOT for you.

About 90% of the pictures in this book are available online in many, many, many funny picture sites. Honestly, that would have been fine, if the captions had been truly funny enough to make up for it. But they aren't.

And the worst part of all is the horibble picture quality. Most all pictures are pixelated and blurry, obviously taken from online sources, some even photoshopped, which take away from the theme of the book.

There are a couple of pictures that make it less than family friendly, including dogs with cigarrates, alcohol, bunnies eating marijuana leaves, and a certain adult toy...

Not worth your money. I'm just glad I borrowed this, and didn't buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cats, dogs, and others, November 26, 2010
This review is from: What Pets Do While You're at Work (Paperback)
Some of these full-color photographs are obviously candid (French bulldog Rad essaying a go on a skateboard, two lop-eared rabbits feasting on what appears to be green marijuana, Annabelle the cat embracing a plastic Jesus, kitten Tommy asprawl in his dish of kibble, Roz the Siamese attentively watching a screen of computer solitaire), others photo-shopped (Peyton the mouse (in miniature football helmet) preparing to extract cheese from a trap, Poison the blue chameleon riding a motorcycle, Trigger the kitten aiming a miniature assault rifle out the window, Sylvester the cat overcoming a dog with his "flying tiger kick"), and still others probably posed (Minou the cat paging through her mistress's copy of Joy of Cooking: 75th Anniversary Edition - 2006, Doobie the young malamute crammed onto a shelf in the fridge). Pets of every type, including birds, guinea pigs, a goldfish, a hedgehog, and a tame skunk, are seen in a wide variety of situations, some sweet, some silly. Animal lovers will find this collection irresistible.

2.0 out of 5 stars Clever idea executed badly, November 14, 2010
Giving 2 stars because of the adorable animals. Other than that, it should receive 1 star for not being original OR clever. I bought one to check out because the premise was interesting and I needed a few "little gifts" for various people on our Christmas list. This is not appropriate for youngsters or our MINISTER who is a dog lover and owner. Most of the pics and captions are innocent enough, but there are a few that should not be seen by anyone who needs an explanation for unmentionable items.

Can't and won't recommend this little book -- and it is a shame because it could have been fun and adorable.

4.0 out of 5 stars pretty good, November 17, 2007

Not quite what I expected. When I looked at it, it looked like only funny pictures, but when I read it I noticed that a few pictures were not very funny.

5.0 out of 5 stars I like cute animal pics, November 20, 2007
This review is from: What Pets Do While You're at Work (Paperback)
I recommend this book as a perfect stocking stuffer for any pet-lover in your life. The pictures are pretty funny. How the pet-owners ever got their pets do some of these things is beyond me...I guess it pays to always have a camera handy. Beverly West & Jason Bergund have also created some funny captions to these photos. It's a nice, feel good book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not So Funny..., January 9, 2008
This review is from: What Pets Do While You're at Work (Paperback)
While I hoped this would be a funny look at what goes on in your home while you're away, I didn't find much that was clever, original, or funny. I thought much of it was inane, adolescent, and unoriginal. Some of it seemed downright cruel: kitten in a jar, bunny in a bucket, one looks like a cat was placed on a dog's back and the dog reacted by throwing the cat into the air. Many of the photos are the same ones you've received in your inbox many times, and a good many photos are contrived or PhotoShopped.

And I found some of it to be downright incomprehensible; for example, one photo heading is, "Pooka Thinks We Are All Sofa King We Todd Did," pg.119. Huh? Am I missing something?

While this is a clever idea, and there are a few clever captions for crazy animal behavior, this book misses the mark on many levels.
