A Total Fun Romp,
By G. Miki Hayden (NYC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: What Phoebe Wants (Harlequin Flipside) (Mass Market Paperback)
I loved this book, which is totally charming and a lot of fun. It's chick lit of the most enjoyable kind. The writer has a sensational ability to get inside her character's down-to-earth head and the guys are very sexy and great reads, too. I liked this better than *Bridgett Jones* and I'd loved to see a movie made from this book. Reading this was a great way to spend a couple of hours in the AC on a hot day.

amusing contemporary romance,
This review is from: What Phoebe Wants (Harlequin Flipside) (Mass Market Paperback)
Her husband Steve dumped Phoebe Frame for a younger cocktail waitress, but explained to his wife that he was dumping her for her good. The car salesman tells her the same thing when she goes to buy a used vehicle after her car died. At Central Care Network Clinic where she works as a lowlife transcriptionist, her boss Dr. Ken Patterson gropes her while making pass at Phoebe insisting he only wants to help her relax. Phoebe threatens him with an alphabet soup sexual harassment case.Already over the top with all this male kindness, Phoebe runs into Jeff Fischer and takes his head off for touching her. Jeff insists he was trying to keep his balance. Jeff installs a new transcription system for Phoebe, but his efforts to get her to out with him fail. Phoebe mistrusts anything that contains a Y-Chromosome; Jeff, who is very attracted to her, knows he must mount a campaign to persuade that not all Ys act as if they are doing you favor; instead dating her would do him a favor. This amusing contemporary romance stars a woman, who will no longer take it from men insisting they are taking care of her best interests. However, as Phoebe takes charge of her life, she wonders what Jeff wants from her besides a roll in the sack. Readers will take delight in Jeff, as he struggles to prove to his beloved that she can be independent all she wants as long as she allows him to be there when she needs him and visa versa. Myers at her best!,
By Writer Gal "Amy" (Denver, CO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: What Phoebe Wants (Harlequin Flipside) (Mass Market Paperback)
Who wouldn't love this book? There is nothing better than reading about a female in charge of her own destiny who refuses to take crap from anymore (especially men) anymore. I applaud Cindi Myers for writing about a heroine who stands up for her rights instead of a female who allows herself to be a doormat. Rich characterization, plot driven, sexy, emotional are just a few words to describe Cindi's work. I have long been a fan of her books, and What Phoebe Wants only further proves why.

I thought WHAT PHOEBE WANTS was wonderful and absolutely funny! Cindi Myers has an amazing ability of creating lovable characters who are not perfect and putting them into situations that make me laugh. I always look forward to Ms. Myers' next book.

Trite but funny,
This review is from: What Phoebe Wants (Harlequin Flipside) (Mass Market Paperback)
I was pleasantly surprised by this book - it did have its clichés and was fairly formulaic, but it also has genuine wit and likeable characters. Even the rather obvious moral of the story (the heroine starts out as a very trod-upon character having to deal - not very well - with all of the very sexist men in her life, but she grows a backbone and takes control of her life in a way that is not witchy or annoying) doesn't feel like it's being shoved at you. It's just there, slightly noticeable but not detracting from the story.
There were several times I laughed out loud reading this book, so that earns it higher-than-average romance novel marks. It's still rather predictable and fluffy, nothing that will shake up your world, but a great Sunday afternoon light read.

I stayed up all night reading this book, and I loved it! The writing is superb, but aside from that, the story is hilarious. Seriously, you can't go wrong. It's a super fun, feel-good book.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: What Phoebe Wants (Harlequin Flipside) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is elevated to the status of a two because of the constant and erotic sex.Otherwise it's a one star book with dialogue which will nullify any sense of fun you may have with this book,Characters who will be forgotten in a second ,and a purposeless that's as bad as the nile is long.

Duller than most but more sexual,

THIs book was capable of being a rockin dominitrix story with a sexy love story.AT LEAst that's what could have happened with this poor excuse for a funny book.THe book has absolutely no charms about it.IT feels like a very heavy and humid summer's day.THe character's aren't just doomed to unoriginality but to the primal lack of emotion and character.Dull characters combined with the disappointing story make this one not worthy of a 2.What does make it worthy of it's rating is the hot sex which is set periodically throughout the book.THis book deserves a mass burning for it's crappiness
