About the Author

I started in the Real Estate business in 1987, 17 years ago. Back then I was hired by Home Fed. Bank and was trained as an appraiser. In 1990, I switched companies and appraised for Citibank. In mid 1991, I attended a Citibank meeting with the mortgage loan officers at an offsite hotel. They had breakfast, omelets, fresh fruit, rolls and warm muffins. They laughed and appeared to be having much fun, a lot more fun than any meeting I had attended with the appraisers. That was it. In 1991, after already passing several appraisal competency exams, I decided to jump to the loan origination department and start over as a home loan officer for Citibank. I worked there until 1993, when I was offered a position with PNCMortgage, one of the biggest regional banks in the country. In 1997, I was made an Area Sales Manager and still maintained my production. In 1998 and 1999, I was the top loan officer for PNC in Southern California. In February 2001, the mortgage division of PNC was purchased by Washington Mutual, where I maintained my production and continued making President's Club, an honor awarded to less than 5 % of the company nationwide. In that time, I can truly say that I've learned a few things that I'm happy to share.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wish I Had Read this 10 Years Ago, August 28, 2005

Kosoff's book takes you where most non-fiction writers don't tread. They either don't have the courage or the talent to infuse their work with both hard-hitting and insightful research and humorous stories that add spice and flair to the topic. Kosoff finds a way. Obviously, Mr. Kossof has been around the game for some time because he seems to know all the "tricks of the trade" and how best to find your way through the myriad of obstacles in the home buying arena. My only regret is that he didn't put pen to paper a decade ago -- it would have saved me a multitude of headaches and a mountain of cash.

Not only is this book incredibly informative and easy to read, but it's entertaining as well. Kosoff's humorous and conversational tone really breaks down the home buying process in an accessible way and is a great reference guide to use from preapproval to closing.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for first time home buyers!, August 12, 2005
This review is from: What Your Realtor, Loan Officer and Appraiser Forgot to Tell You!: A Guide for First Time Home Buyers (Paperback)
A friend recommeded this book when my husband and I started shopping for our new house. It is so funny and informative! The book has terrific indiser advice on every aspect of the buying process. It even covers things like home inspections, who should pay for what and how to understand an adjustable rate mortgage.I felt in control and spoke with authority to my loan officer when we applied for a home loan. Buying my house was stressful enough but what I learned from this book made it much easier.
