Amazing 14-year-old Country Pop Star--Brandie Frampton's 2007 sophomore release on D&LF Records, October 23, 2009
When I was fourteen, it was 1997 and I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. When Brandie Frampton was fourteen, she had already put out two albums, filmed several music videos and had received New Music Weekly's Crossover Artist of the Year for 2006. Needless to say, this is one woman who has a firm grasp on where this crazy ride called life will be taking her.
Firmly stated, Brandie's 2007 sophomore release, What U See, is one of the strongest Country Pop albums put out to this day. From the smokin' hot guitar licks of "I Want You 2" to the strong publishing possibilities of "My Life", Brandie takes the listener on a sugar-coated high-octane drive through the finest sounds of Americana/Crossover music.
We'd have to say that "What U See" is the most radio-friendly track on the album; hitting the very apex of what Pop music aims to achieve, sounds as sticky as rock candy give the listener a rush almost as if they were standing in the kitchen eating lumps of sugar right out of the bag...a seriously infectious and addictive song that deserves all the credit in the world.
Other standout moments on What U See include the rockin' cover of Cathy-Anne McClintock & Larry Wayne Clark's "Live Like That", the fun-loving true-to-life lyrics of "Ain't That Life", hauntingly moody reverb that reflects Brandie's beauteous voice on "Colours" and a song titled, "Butterfly Tattoo", which tells a tale of a young girl coming of age through the acquisition of a butterfly tattoo and of how quickly the news spreads through her community. There are many other moments that are worth experiencing first hand on this release, and we *highly recommend* picking up a copy HERE.
"If you're seeking a crystallized and concise country pop album from a ferocious fourteen-year-old, look no further, as Brandie Frampton's 'What U See' is exactly what you get." -Brian Ball, Music Editor
