About the Author

Born in Phillipsburg Kansas. I have worked all my life raising my two children by myself. I have always hoped for more then what I have been doing and always wanted to express myself through writing. I have been a vegetarian for nearly 5 years. I wrote this book especially for my grand-daughter who needed to have a book to explain what a vegetarian was for her class, as she is vegetarian. There were no books on the market for very small children. So I wrote one.

5.0 out of 5 stars What is a vegetarian?, March 7, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: What Is A Vegetarian? (Paperback)
I bought this book for my children, I am trying to teach them that everyone has different ideas and beliefs. My oldest child is in school and will come in contact with many different kinds of people and ideas. I want him to have enough knowledge to be able understand and respect others differences. Debra L. Stewart has done a great job exlpaining what a vegetarian is and what they eat in a darling way that kids can understand. I bought one copy for home and one for my child's pre-school. I reccomend this book to anyone with young childern, they will meet a vegetarian at some point (if not already) and will have a better understanding of what that means.

4.0 out of 5 stars good message, terrible grammar!, March 4, 2003
This review is from: What Is A Vegetarian? (Paperback)
I bought this book almost two years ago. It has a nice message, it is not preachy and my 3 year old still loves it at bedtime. The book is really great, and I hope it goes back in print. But, if the publisher does print it again, please do something about all of those terrible sentence fragments!!!! I mean, the book is only like 10 pages long, and there's hardly a complete sentence in the whole thing! I love being a vegetarian, but I cringe every time I see those lousy fragments!
