Unlike most books that define a problem, Gregori presents practical things you can do to be prepared, with many resources in the many appendices. In my opinion, if you only have time to read one book, (and time is at a rapidly increasing premium), then this is the one.

From the smallest microprocessor to the biggest mainframe, the average American depends on over 264 computers per day.
Were the smartest, most advanced people ever to live on planet earth. And we have the computers to prove it.
...But if the computers go down, we may be the most ignorant, vulnerable, helpless people in the history of the human race, incapable of doing tasks our primitive ancestors did every day.
Thats right. The average American depends wholly on computers to provide food, water, fuel, light, money and health. What would it be like to find ourselves without the things we take for granted?
Imagine total vulnerability. This is the essence of the y2k crisis.
We need help to know what to do to survive the crisis if it lasts more than a week. If it lasts more than a month, every family in America could be in serious trouble. Experts are now talking about the crisis lasting more than a year. This book shows you what to do to get ready and tells you what you need to know about the the greatest threat man has faced in a millenium. Read this book immediately and use it! Start plotting a course for safety today.
... a treasure of practical information for helping you apply whatever conclusion you reach from the facts. This is a must read NOW.

Gets you thinking,

I like provocative books, and this one offers a nice pallet. I'll spend my Y2K at home, under the covers, thank you very much! If you enjoy fiction on this subject, a book I recommend highly is Glen Kleier's suspense thriller, THE LAST DAY. It's a very original, VERY unusual look at the turn of the millennium. Probably one of the most thought provoking books I've ever read. Simply a great story for anyone looking to commemorate this event of a lifetime with something special.

My brother in law drove over to my house in a snowstorm, late at night, to give me this book. I didn't believe it COULD be true. However, I have researched it extensively since that time and have come to the conclusion that it's much better to be prepared for the worst and not have needed to do it than to have needed to prepare and have not done so. Julian Gregori, whether or not you agree with all of his beliefs, has provided the most comprehensive "checklist" of any one person or resource that I have found. I purchased a dozen copies of this book and have handed them out to other members of my family and close friends. Mr. Gregori has helped me realize that the possible consequences of NOT preparing are simply not an option for myself and my loved ones. He is organized and thoughtful in his preparedness checklist. He gives specific names, phone numbers, addresses to help you. By far it is the best book on the subject that I have read.

An intelligently written book on y2k.,

Although I have researched the y2k problem now for over 5 months and have become somewhat informed and articulate on the matter, I still found it difficult to convince my friends and family to prepare for what may become, to say the least, a major change in their lives. I soon realized that by giving them this book to read, they have become very responsive and are readily making preparations. The book can be read in one sitting and is very intelligently written. Put it on your y2k list of books to read.
