5.0 out of 5 stars True musical genius
What a wonderful album! All eleven tracks are strong, but of course his "What A Wonderful World" must rate as the most beautiful rendition thereof. "Dream A Little Dream Of Me" is my personal favourite of the album, but again, the entire selection is top class. This is/was one of his best releases, go and get it. I recommend this without...

3.0 out of 5 stars 30 minutes of Armstrong's most commercial music
While this record is indeed Louis Armstrong, and therefore better than 98% of the music available out there, it is only of marginal interest when considered within the specific context of Louis Armstrong's incredible and revoluitionary career. The disc is only 31 minutes long, which in the age of CDs is unforgivable. This is a great record for those with a superficial...

This is a great record for those with a superficial interest in Satchmo, especially those who want to have "It's a Wonderful World" in their collection, but not for anyone interested in exploring Armstrong's unmatched capabilities as a true jazz virtuoso. Most of the tunes here are overproduced and highly orchestrated. Still, it is Louis Armstrong...

If you are new to Louis Armstrong, then this is the best place to start. His voice is rich and deep, and the tempo ranging from slow Sunday afternoon, to an old-fashioned Saturday night dance.

5.0 out of 5 stars His Best, March 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: What a Wonderful World (Audio CD)
This is my first & favorite of Louie. This was recorded near his final years & with many of his friends around. You can hear & feel a real love from this man. Many of the song reflect his life like "Boy From New Orleans" & "This Black Cat". Everyone will like the often played "What A Wonderful World". I really like his version of "Give Peace A Chance", maybe even better than John Lennon's version (and I'm a big Beatle fan too). Give it a try yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lazy Sunday Evening Music, June 2, 2000

I love this album. It is great to listen to late on summer afternoons - lazy Sunday evening music. Louis recorded many albums during the 60's and those are the recordings I recommend. They are, of course, much higher in quality than the recordings made earlier from the 20's on. My favorite tracks on this album are "What A Wonderful World" and a rousing Dixieland Jazz version of "Cabaret". But all of the tracks are wonderful. I highly recommend it. This is one of his best albums.

unfortuanatly i couln't make it to new orleans to celebrate the great one's birth. but he will always be in my heart. just grab a nice glass of lemonade and chill out in your front portch to some of the most timeless music ever recorded. i could die a painful death and if louis was playing it would make the pain go away. he truly had a vision like no other.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Twins Song, January 22, 2007
This review is from: What a Wonderful World (Audio CD)
I love this CD. My Father in law would sing this to my tiny twins while in the hospital & then onto when they came home & everyday he would hear it on the radio & just ring our phones & let it play thru the speakers. My Babies would be Fussy or crying & as soon as i turn this song on you would hear nothing absolutely nothing!!! After searching for the cd we found it & was given to him for a christmas gift however he didn't get to hear it he passed away on christmas day morning so unfotunately now that cd has been put! We all miss him dearly & know that he is in a better place & is watching over us right now!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Music to Heal the Soul, December 14, 2007
This review is from: What A Wonderful World (Audio CD)
My hospice nurse recently lost her younger brother to an especially painful cancer..She was deeply saddened..he was the last of her family..and she was alone at age 62..She mentioned she was looking for a recording of Louis Armstrong singing "It's a Wonderful World.". Knowing she was planning a trip to nieces in Arkansas over Thanksgiving..I ordered the the CD with Louis singing her and her late brothers favorite songs.. Upon her return she said she played the CD all the way down to Arkansas, a good 6 hour drive, and all the way back..talking to her brother all the way. She was dealing with her grief...and keeps the CD with her in her car and at home..Louie's recording is helping her to heal and in doing so she is able to help her patients..me included..

5.0 out of 5 stars The one and only Satchmo, June 8, 2006
This review is from: What a Wonderful World (Audio CD)
You could say he does not have a good voice. But it is a great voice. He is so filled with life, with feeling with joy .It just overflows. The playing is of course incomparable. He is one of those few greats who is universally loved.
It is not only that he sings 'what a wonderful world' he makes all of us feel it is a wonderful world.
