Outstanding educational tool - fun for kids,
By A Customer
This review is from: What Would Jesus Do? (Hardcover)
My children (8 and 10) and I read this book every night over a couple of weeks. It is designed to be read one chapter at a time with a lesson and related Bible chapters for discussion at the end of each. The kids were intrigued by the fictional story and couldn't wait to read the related Bible chapters. They enjoyed it so much that we started reading it again this week. We only wish there were more books like this available!

"In His Steps"--Todays English Version.,
By A Customer
This review is from: What Would Jesus Do? (Paperback)
Mr. Sheldon's Grandfather's book is a classic of Christian fiction, but dated. In it, the main evil in town is "The Saloon," and a girl shows great character by withstanding the temptation to go to the big city and become an opera singer. Still, its central message is very important and needs to be communicated to Christians, especially our children. "WWJD" does a great job of taking the message of "In His Steps," and making it relevant to today's kids. Instead of the opera, the girl's temptation is Hollywood and a role in a titillating action film. Drugs replace "The Saloon." Furthermore, "In His Steps" did not depict a concerted backlash against the minister by more stodgy members of his congregation. "WWJD" acknowledges this as an inevitability. All in all, a fine update of a wonderful story. I recommend that Christian families with teens should read this book together and have a round table discussion after every few chapters. It is thought provoking and challenges the Christian reader. For younger teens (middle school), "The Experiment" by Todd Temple runs in a similar vein.

Timeless and Up-to-Date,
By
This review is from: What Would Jesus Do? (Paperback)
A re-write of his great-Grandfather's timeless classic, "In His Steps" first published In 1896, this story stands solidly beside one of the simplest, yet most life-changing works of fiction ever written.
I dragged my heels for months before reading this, because I had the very intense feeling that nobody should tamper with the original. Yet this has brought the original home to new generations of readers, losing almost nothing in the transition -- a task I would have thought impossible. The question posed in the original book has launched several generations of reechoing "What Would Jesus Do?" In this re-write by great-grandson, Garrett Sheldon, the story remains true to the original and just as life-changing. The very simplicity of the story has blinded some to the depth of the message, but after more than 107 years and 50,000,000 copies of the original and now with updated examples and characters it continues to rank among the best books ever written.

Great book - very challenging,

This is a great retelling - in a contemporary setting - of "In His Steps." This book helps you see the blessings and the sacrifices involved in truly following Jesus. This book challenges the reader to strive for a better walk with Christ - something all of us should hope for.I have read this book in different settings a number of times in the past, but I am now going to have our church youth group read through it. I expect it will challenge each of them to not just be a Christian, but to "do" Christianity. We are called to not just be hearers of the word, but doers. (James 1) This book helps challenge you to be a doer.

Challenging & encouraging,

This book is fabulous! I wasn't sure how much of the WWJD movement was hype, but this gives readers a fictional look at what following Christ might cost, and what blessings He provides for those who choose to follow. Easy to read.

I read this book with alot of hesitancy, being that it was loaned to me from one of our deacons, but I read it and once I got started, I couldn't stop! This book changed my outlook on life and how I should treat others. I loved this book and it's message so much that I bought 8 of them and gave them out to my co-workers. It has truely been an eye opener! Every Christian should read this book! If you didn't fully understand Jesus before, you will once you read this book.

Memories,
By
This review is from: What Would Jesus Do? (Hardcover)
Whenever someone brings up this book in a discussion... it brings back SO many memories. my mom gave me this book as a kid... I read it over and over. I loved it. I can remember hiding from tornados in our basement with a copy of this book, doing over the neighbors houses when my older sister got hurt, and all the times in between. I proudly wrote my name on the inside cover to mark it as mine. I know some people wonder how Andy in Toy Story felt... But this book was my Woody doll. I would recommened this book to anyone who wants to teach their kids the value of learning from their mistakes.

This review is from: Christmas Story Cookie Kit (Hardcover)
This was a wonderful way to have lots of fun with the kids!If your tired of all the Santa stuff, this is definately refreshing. The kit includes a story, (laminated so dirty hands don't hurt), all the cookie cutters for the Christmas story, and a laminated stable. My kids loved decorating the cookies, and it was a wonderful way to share again the wonderful story of the birth of Christ. Great gift idea as well!!

Bre's,

This review is from: What Would Jesus Do? (Paperback)
This is a very challenging book, one that will make you re-evaluate the way we see and treat God in our daily life as Christians. I, for one, have started asking myself What Would Jesus Do? Unfortunately, looking aesethically, the writing style isn't all that great. Sure, it's got a wonderful, relevent message, but a few literary niceties wouldn't. Still, this is a book all Christians should read.
