I, too, have been tongue-tied many times at parties and business events. In fact, I've often worried so much about what I'm going to say I've forgotten to listen! I saw the author, Florence Isaacs, on a morning talk show and raced out to buy her book. While I can't say it's changed my life, it HAS changed my social life. The author gives practical tips that are truly helpful in getting over any initial conversational hump. I feel like I'm now armed with tools to get conversations started and keep them rolling (without rolling into a ditch!).The tips aren't silly, either. They are practical and real. And really work. Whew! Wanna talk? Bring it on!

"What Do You Say When..." is an extremely useful book. I used a few of the conversation strategies recently when I had to attend a wake. Rather than feeling tongue-tied, I knew what to say. It's a wonderful idea for a book and the author has pulled it off really well.

Not everything in this book is applicable to all people. But there is something for everyone! Whether you need to learn to speak up or you need to learn to give others a chance to speak, this book will be quite helpful. It is an enjoyable read with many entertaining stories as examples.
