This is a timeless book. So many hours are wasted thinking or even caring about someone else's opionion about you. Actually, according to Terry Cole Whittaker, it does not matter.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Much Help At All
For a person who seriously has problems with low self-esteem or agoraphobia, this book provides no insight or solution. Terry Cole Whittaker is a religious minister, not a psychologist. Ms. Cole Whittaker is well meaning, but misses the point by asking her readers to rely on (a Christ based) God. She doesn't even explain HOW to rely on God. At times I felt like I was...

5.0 out of 5 stars What I Think of Me is Your Business, September 14, 2004
This review is from: What You Think of Me is None of My Business (Paperback)
This is a timeless book. So many hours are wasted thinking or even caring about someone else's opionion about you. Actually, according to Terry Cole Whittaker, it does not matter.

Set yourself free! The only real thing that matters is what you think about and enjoy about yourself. This book teaches you how to cope, how to figure out who and what is important to you, and how to tap into your happiness. She does so by being openly transparent with the reader. Because Terry came clean, so can you and free yourself from restricting shackles.

Self-awareness exercises and found at the end of each chapter, retrains your belief systems and challenges old, ususally false, assumptions. You learn instead how to base your joy. read this book, recognize your potential, and then make a true, authentic difference in this world because what you think about yourself is what is right.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT, February 21, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: What You Think of Me is None of My Business (Paperback)
This book helped me get out of the negative thinking patterns that have ruled my life for 32 years. I took what applied to me from the book, and I left what didn't. I think it forces you to take a look at your own spirituality, and it has made me think of who or what God is in my life. I found it extremely helpful to do the exercises at the end of the chapters as well as the affirmations. I would recommend this for anyone with an open mind looking to make a change in his/her thinking!

5.0 out of 5 stars right on the money, December 10, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: What You Think of Me is None of My Business (Paperback)
This book is right on the money! It nails the reality we all face with always wondering what other people are thinking and modifying our behavior to fit their expectations. Cole-Whittaker points out the what we do and why we do it with razor sharp clarity. She does this and at the same time points the way to modifying our own behavior and subconscious influences. I haven't even finished it yet but have quoted a number of parts to friends and they have agreed that she is right on. She combines all of this with a clear understanding of the importance of our relationship with God and His role in all of this. Wonderful!

5.0 out of 5 stars Terry = a true friend., November 25, 1998

This review is from: What You Think of Me is None of My Business (Paperback)
My mom gave me one of Terry's books to read, "Love and Power in a world with out limits". I have re-read it over 5 times. I feel like she talks striaght to me as the smartest friend with the best advice. I recomend any of her books to anyone who wants peace of mind in thier lives and over all true unconditional love. After reading her books I have lost wieght, gained self respect and love, and made my exsisting relationships sweeter. It is easier for me to see love in everyone and everything. THANK YOU TERRY!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars This book surprised me!, October 13, 2005
This review is from: What You Think of Me is None of My Business (Paperback)
Prior to reading this book, I didn't think I had major limiting beliefs but the exercises that Cole-Whittaker takes you through helped me uncover some I hadn't even realized I had.

If something has kept you from reaching your potential and you can't quite figure out what, pick up this book and uncover your personal obstacles.

Cole-Whittaker is a minister and does refer to God often in the book. If that bothers you, try to figure out a way to get around the references because this book may do wonders for you. I personally subscribe to the Higher Power so it was fine with me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why do you care?, January 25, 2003

Why do you care about what other people think? What matters is what you think. Terry Cole Whittaker explains this in basic terms, to help people get their ego out of the way. We are in control of ourself, other people can think what they want and always do. We can only control what we think of ourselves.
People who lack confidence, care about what others think. Great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars It is about me and that's the good news!, October 3, 2007

I began my personal growth journey years ago. The fact that I missed reading Terry Cole-Whittaker's work surprises me on one hand and delights me on the other...I just finished reading this gem, laughing, breathing deeply, savoring this perspective. It is in such alignment with who and where I am! Being reminded that 'my happiness is my responsibility and is not dependent on your behavior' is but one of the things that affirms that my life experience is an "inside job." I've been listening to Abraham CDs and attending workshops for some years now and when this book was mentioned, I bought one copy for myself and 5 for special people with whom I wanted to share. Her use of the words "God" and "Heavenly Father" initially distracted me. I quickly tranlasted them into "my" vocabulary and "all was truly well!"

5.0 out of 5 stars DOESN'T GET MUCH SIMPLER THAN THIS, August 7, 2008

I've read a fair amount of self development material, listened to CDs, DVDs, seminars - you name it - and this is as simple as it gets. I read through some of the negative reviews and I respect what those reviewers had to say because what works for one doesn't necessarily work for everybody. I would have to say that I found the material shared by the author to be very practical and she discussed so many topics that I was impressed by the concise, yet hard-hitting information that was shared. Information that if put to use could certainly be pivotal if not life-altering.

I don't think that books can take the place of clinical help. If someone has a serious problem there is no way that a book will solve someone's specific issues. However, as a guideline to positive thinking and progressive living this book so many tools that its possible for a reader to grab on to one thing and make a shift in the right direction. I think that's worth $7 to say the least. This book is worth the read and I highly recommend it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Much Help At All, April 26, 2002

For a person who seriously has problems with low self-esteem or agoraphobia, this book provides no insight or solution. Terry Cole Whittaker is a religious minister, not a psychologist. Ms. Cole Whittaker is well meaning, but misses the point by asking her readers to rely on (a Christ based) God. She doesn't even explain HOW to rely on God. At times I felt like I was reading Dr. Laura. For spiritually based solutions to this problem, it's a decent book, but psychological self-help, it's not.

I guess my biggest disappointment was I thought I was going to get Dr. Scott Peck kind of wisdom, instead I got Dr. Laura "morality."
