Yes another Band from New Jersey,

This review is from: What You Thought You Heard (Audio CD)
WEll BORIALIS is one band that has been sadly passed over.very little airplay , no video exposure , and yet we can download them from the web. For as hard as they worked the tour scene , Capitol should have stayed behind them . A SMOKIN band to watch live , there audience is electrified . even the CD is a well balanced mix of rock-hop poetry , Not a bad sound for their Debut recording . Listen to it twice ,and you can't put it down . this is more music than I've seen in a long time !

This is one hell of an album. Im not just sayin' that cause they're local boys that I played w/ numerous times, but because they deserve everything. Its like Led Zepplin rock w/ old-school hiphop vocals above it, and its all the beats and riffs are from instruments--> or as they call it "White Trash Hip Rock". There is a DJ, but he's instrument is This is a great, original album. Every track is gold and will appeal to fans of all music. Its a shame that it got pushed back a half-dozen times and had no promotion for its final release. BUY THIS ALBUM! Jersey Shore represent!

After following and listening to this group for several years, they finally have an album available for sale to the masses and it's exciting to know others will get to enjoy their sound. These Jersey boys have a style that has evolved and changed over the years, but I've trully enjoyed all of them. From rock, to hip-hop, to instrumental surf jams, etc... these guys are amazing musicians. You may have heard their talent before in productions they've done for other artists such as the Spooks (Things I've Seen), or on sound tracks for the surf film (What Exit?), or the film (Dissapearing Acts). Hopefully now that they have this album out you'll get to hear a whole lot more. Honestly they've recorded enough songs to have 4 or 5 albums out already, but the music industry is a strange place. On the real...every time I listen to any of their albums I get amped. In my eyes this album is going to be a classic rock album with a serious hip-hop influence. Buy it - you won't be dissapointed!!!

The album lacks replay in my opinion, some songs are good. But nothing too spectacular. Linkin Park is a better buy, but if your looking for something new, this might be good for you. So I'll finish by saying there's better albums to buy, so browse around a bit first.

Heroes Before the Gym Class,

I hate it when listening to Last.FM or Pandora I find a band that I somehow missed out on. Borialis is definitely one of those bands that should have made it. Smart rhymes over infectious tracks that were deftly produced make this album very ahead of it's time. Buy "What You Thought You Heard" and maybe revive a band that deserves a second chance.

Well, it 's 2008, most of these review are ~3-4 years old. I recently came across "It don't mean a thing" and said "This is great!" ...when I tried to find more, I was sad to find out Borialis was no more with only two albums released. Too bad...their sound still stand on its own many years later. Any chance for a reunion??? :-)Give this one a sampling, if you like it, buy the CD or check it out on your favorite music service.

I used to listen to Borialis,

I was going through high school as Borialis got big at the jersey shore. they used to be the most original band around, but that was on their first record "Out da Rug Room" It was fresh, funk-driven trip-hop that made you wanna get up and groove. Their live shows were full of surf jams, hip-hop melodies, loud rock music, and of course the sweet sounds of Doc-Nu on the one and two's. But then Ricky's head got really big and they decided to sign with a major record label-Capitol. I hope Ricky likes his trade-funk for pop metal! My advice to Ricky: stick with YOUR sound. You were about to change the face of music. Have fun without your band! Call me when you get back together.
